About
The Curaçao Sea Aquarium belongs to one of the most unique aquaria in the world. The reason being that, from the very beginning of the aquarium in 1984, the Sea Aquarium managed to create natural habitats for all its marine creatures without using sophisticated technical equipment. Due to an open-watersystem all the aquaria are in immediate contact with the open sea. It is this advanced pump system that continuously pumps fresh seawater directly in all the aquaria. Openings in the roof allow natural sunlight to fall directly on the aquaria, so there is no need to use artificial light sources. The combination of the open-watersystem and the natural sunlight create the natural circumstances that are needed to replicate the underwater world outside the aquarium. Everything in the aquaria, from the fish and corals to the sand on the bottom of the exhibition tanks, originates from the seas surrounding the island of Curaçao. Nothing in the displays is artificial, everything is 100% real. The same conditions apply to the lagoons in which the dolphins, sealions, sharks, rays and turtles are kept. The only thing that separates these lagoons from the open ocean are breakwaters built out of big rock boulders and an occasional fence, allowing fresh seawater to freely flow through all the lagoons. The Curaçao Sea Aquarium operates according to the principle that all animals need to be kept in circumstances that as much as possible mimic their natural living conditions. This goal is accomplished by employing all the available natural sources and resources surrounding the aquarium.

A very enjoyable museum experience -- plus dolphins!
We enjoyed the information we received from one of the tour guides, who took us below deck in an observation ship to see sharks and other fish eye-to-eye. He walked with us to an area with live flamingos close enough to touch, then described many of the fish and other creatures in the saltwater tanks. We were also treated to a performance by trained dolphins. An educational and enjoyable visit!

    Bucket list checkmark
Finally checked off an item on my bucket list: Swimming with dolphins! Diving underwater, swimming side by side and looking the dolphins in the eye was amazing! They were so well trained, the staff definitely love these animals and it looks like the feeling is mutual. The entire aquarium is worth going too. My kids are aged 14 to 20 and they all said the aquarium was at the top of their list for favorite thing to do in Curacao.

We did the Dolphin encounter and it was a truly an enlightening as well as beautiful spiritual moment!! The trainer of the dolphins don't remember his name but he was absolutely terrific!! So happy we left Sandals for the day to take advantage of this supreme aquarium!! It was one of our highlights and I would go back in a heartbeat

    Animal encounter- MUST DO!
We booked the animal encounter to feed the sharks and snorkel among other fish. What an absolute amazing experience. I forgot the guy his name ( sorry if you read this) but he and his intern were AMAZING. He gave us a good insight on the animals present. It was fun and educational at the same time. We receive amazing picture afterwards for free as it was a learning curve for the intern aswell. He did so well! An experience we will never forget! Thank you guys!!!

A nice experience of a different part of the island
A small aquarium that doesn't take long to visit. Has static displays, videos, viewing of the fish "up close and personal" and a dolphin show. Well worth a 1/2 day of of your time. Check times to make sure you get all the shows.

    Great experience
Zerek was a great teacher when it came to showing us how to be safe during the shark feeding! He and Ray were VERY informative and took lots of time with us to make sure we enjoyed every second at the aquarium! Thank you for having such wonderful employees on your staff. Those 2 are definitely a great asset

    Kid friendly activity!
Overall experience was good. Friendly staff doing the demonstrations. Feeding the sting rays and shark was fun. The Dolphin demonstration was amazing! For an extra cost, kids and adults alike can have experiences with the Dolphin, we opted for just the Dolphin kiss. The entire area is small, but clean and maintained. Definitely recommend for visitors looking for kids friendly activities. Please wear a hat for the dolphin training demo as the sun is scorching...and drink lots of water! No need to booked anything, from Willemstad, we took a private taxi to the aquarium (20US:3persons) Entrance to the sea aquarium was $15US adult and $7US kids. Then from the aquarium withing 5 minutes of walking out towards Mambo beach, we got a minibus back into Willemstad!(6US:3persons) The entire transit was smooth. I recommend the minibus if you're looking for cost effective transit, however you would have to walk to the stand to get these, whereas the taxi cars are directly over the floating bridge. Overall the experience at the aquarium is well worth the cost for kids.

    Amazing Animal Encounter Experience!
My husband and I booked the animal encounter the day after our wedding in Curacao! It was SO fun and there was nobody else who booked our time slot so it ended up being private which was amazing. Zerek and Rey were amazing instructors and made sure we felt safe and comfortable while in the tank with the smaller fish, the stingray, and while feeding the sharks. We opted for the additional photo package which were captured by Rey and so nice to have! I loved the whole thing - especially having the little fish "nip" at you while holding the feeding fish (don't worry it doesn't hurt!). Scratchy (the stingray) was so fun to play with and even stole a fish right out of my hand while I was trying to feed a shark haha! There are safety bars above the shark feeding glass which help you push yourself to the feeding holes and ensure your hands are not anywhere near the sharks during mealtime. The best part was that we were able to get a shark tooth during one of the feedings and Zerek and Rey let us take it home :) The price of the experience was well worth it and it included entry to the aquarium which was nice but on the smaller side. We got to see the last dolphin show of the evening which was amazing to watch the dolphins and the trainers to their tricks! Overall highly recommend and such a great way to spend an afternoon in Curacao.

    Ocean Lens Viewing is fantastic
Watching the fish from the Lens is a magical experience, and we got plenty of great pictures. It's really beautiful, and the audio telling you where to focus your attention is helpful. Afterwards, we took a tour of the Aquarium and learned a lot more than we would have without the tour. Looking at how they're regrowing coral was fascinating, as was seeing the way that the salt water system works. The aquarium is probably the most reliable way to see flamingos, too. Wish there'd been a bit more shade for watching the dolphin show. Highly recommend getting one of the experiences/tours instead of just the entrance admission.

    Animal Encounter
Zeric was so AWESOME! He was very accommodating, kind and knowledgeable. I’m don’t know how to swim and he created a space where I was able comfortably participate and learn. I’d definitely recommend the experience with him. Even if you’re not a swimmer, try it!

Animal Encounter alone is with the visit! At first it’s a little intimidating seeing the sharks and the stingrays, but I would 100% do this again. Zerich and Tis were absolutely amazing and very patient and informative.

It is a very small aquarium but the best part is the animal encounter which reasonably priced extra where you can swim with the stingrays, tarpon, fish and feed the sharks through a plastic fence while in the water.

The dolphin training show was very fun. Seeing flamingos up close was a great experience. The place is small, but lots to see behind glass and in the tanks. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Very nice experience and something different to see for a couple of hours. Not a place to spend a full day.

What is there to say 🤔 we loved this tour. Highly recommended 👌 always booked in advance.

I booked it in the same day we landed, 3 hours after to be exact. It's not so pricey, we have 30 minutes to enjoyed in privately. Our kids were very excited and amazed at what they saw.

First, of course there were instructions and going through the rules. Then, we headed down by climbing the ladder 🪜. To admit, I was a little scared due to the high and it's in a small surrounding, but I made it. You can lay comfortably on a cushion that fits 3 peoples. A glass window infront which you can see the bottom of the ocean and 🐟 🐠 fish. A booklet of fish was also there so you can determine what you see.

What I love most is being able to spend time with families and no one is surrounding us. No distraction or disturbing for 30 minutes while we enjoying the view. TY

I am amazed! That was a once in a lifetime experience. From the hospitality and great instructions of the trainer Jennifer to petting the dolphin and watching it do amazing tricks, I can’t speak highly enough about this experience! We stood on a platform in a holding area where the dolphin gave us a kiss, let us hold its flippers, etc all while a photographer got fantastic shots! I learned a ton about dolphins like how they can swim 30mph! Afterward the photos are available for purchase and are absolutely worth every penny for the amazing experience this captured. This is a MUST DO in Curacao. Plus you can walk around the small aquarium afterward and enjoy the unique wildlife on display there.

The Curaçao Sea Aquarium is one place you must visit on your trip to Curaçao. We learned so much about marine life and saw the shark feeding and Dolphin training which we both excellent experiences. We bought some souvenirs from the store as well. The staff was very welcoming. Lovely for pictures as well.

My wife, daughter and I spent the afternoon at the Sea Aquarium and we had an informative and fun experience. We opted for the Oceans Lens guided tour, which lasted about an hour and a half. Our guide (apologies for not recalling her name), was excellent in providing information on the history of the aquarium and their mission to preserve ocean life. We went 17ft. Below the surface to view the sea life up close and it was a great time. The tour of the facilities and the education of the various sea animals was very good. We live locally in Orlando and have been to Seaworld numerous times and the level of customer care is night and day.

We couldn't get in because we arrived at 4:00 pm. On the ticket there was information that it was valid until 5:00 pm. We were stopped at 16:00.

I really enjoyed it, i wasn't expecting much, but i was gladly surprise with gentle people, beautiful animals, that they take good care of. Food could be better, no vegetarian options.
