Like so many points of interest in Havana Cuba, this one is nothing short of stunning.

The Cathedral sits in a beautiful square in Old Havana, the square is full of beautiful old buildings and a cobblestone walk way, all this to set you up for what will be a breathtaking first look inside the Cathedral.

The Cathedral is rich in history and perfectly preserved, it has not been tainted by the installation of large monitors or screens or anything of that nature, it's just perfectly preserved as it was intended to be, I found the light over the main alter particularly stunning.

I not only encourage you to visit Havana Cuba, from the USA under the legal liscense of Support the Cuban People, but I further encourage you to check out this Cathedral, you will not be disappointed.

The Cathedral (like many attractions in Old Havana) is completely free and if you so desire to leave a donation behind you can do so...

A quick side note, most people do not know about Mambi, which is close to the the Cathedral, check it out, it's amazing!

Beautiful, no words are needed to describe it, just go there , go inside, keep your eyes closed for 5 minutes,,, and feel the peace and calmness invading your mind, your soul, your body. A simple cathedral, compared to the European ones, yet beautiful and full of history,

It was closed to visitors when we arrived, but the outside was very nice. They had a nativity display with a few life-sized statues.

Havana Cathedral  is one of eleven Catholic cathedrals on the island and is located in the Plaza de la Catedral in Old Havana. Here Christopher Columbus’ remains were kept in the cathedral between 1796 and 1898 before they were taken to Seville Cathedral.

We stayed nit far from here so got to wLk past this cathedral every day. The square has lots of restaurants tucked off in little side streets. Buskers come out during the day and it's Live with tourists. My favourite square.

I didn’t have time to get into the cathedral itself, but for a small fee you can climb to the top of the tower for some new perspectives of the city and the square below. THis is definitely worth doing.

You will run across the Cathedral sooner or later when walking around Old Havana. Might as well go in and take a look. Know that there will be a gauntlet of beggars at the entrance.

This is a Catholic Cathedral which Jesuits began building in 1748 where an earlier church had been. What is interesting is that the Jesuits were expelled from Cuba ten years before it was completed in 1777. The remains of Christopher Columbus were apparently once here. Architecturally it is a mixture of styles and the two towers are not the same size. Internally it is in reasonable condition but is not as interesting as cathedrals in many other countries. Nevertheless, externally it is quite visually imposing due to its location in a sizeable square.
