More
Florence Arts Centre is a multi-purpose venue based in the old miners' shower-block at the disused Florence Mine in Egremont, Cumbria. A hub for the arts the centre houses an art gallery, a performance space hosting live music gigs and concerts, cinema, stand-up comedy, theatre, a small café and workshop spaces. There is also a studio for the Florence Paintmakers who make oil paints, watercolours, pastels and other artists' materials using the iron ore pigment form the mine and other local natural pigments. The centre hosts events all year round and has a number of free events, monthly Open Mic and jazz nights, as well as paid gigs, games night, ukulele group and more.

A group of four of us visited to watch I Daniel Blake. We really enjoyed the film in unusual surrounding. The bonus was that we could buy a glass of wine to enjoy while we were watching the film. We will be back

We went to watch an evening of entertainment with a Cumbrian theme. The staff are friendly and there is some excellent art work on display. We will certainly keep a look out for more events at this venue.
