What a gem of a place. We visited mid August as part of holiday by car. Parking was easy they have 3 free car parks we parked in number 2 and had a lovely little stroll to the castle along the river. What a day for €25 for a family of 6 we werent disappointed. They run a series of shows (in French) throughout the day, dont miss the main arena shows they are up close and personal. My oldest daughter and I were quite taken by the horse riders!!! We saw afew different performances and it really brought the castle to life, ok my French is limited but you could get the idea and we got a guide in English which I read later. Gift shop great the children all got items at a reasonable price. All the children, including our 3 year old got to shoot a crossbow which was nearly as tall as her! The older ones also fired an arrow. A very hands on visual learning day which we all enjoyed. Walk back to the car enhanced by spotting several lizards on the path wall. Food was available to buy but we had a pack lunch, plenty of table space.

Spent a few hours in this castle but that was not enough. A whole afternoon would have been better. There are so many activities and shows. The show with the horses and battles is really amazing. Was really my best visit in Vendée this summer.

This chateaux puts English heritage to shame: cheap family entry at 24euros and lots of activities and spectacles to keep the family entertained. An enjoyable afternoon and although well attended it wasn’t overly busy so no difficulty to see the shows.

We visited the castle with two of our grand children after having spent a day in Puy du Fou, 25km away. We were extremely well surprised. The shows are very professional, entertaining and delighted the children. We were close to the scene, almost touching the horses. Very interesting stories as well. Some English people may not appreciate the reference to the middle-aged wars between our 2 kingdoms. We had a fantastic day. Congratulations to the groups who created he shows. Highly recommended for families or grandparents with grand children

Tiffauges is a castle with a rich and interesting history, which is brought to life with animations throughout the day from a great team. From demonstrations of trebuchets and siege towers and cranes to a fantastic show of jousting and games and swordplay. The kids (and big kids) get to fire crossbows and longbows and there is a medieval play area for the kids. There is also a cabin that sells hot and cold drinks and sandwiches; very reasonably priced. Booked tickets online for this before the holiday and at 24€ for a family of 5, its a bargain.
