My husband and I were leaving Massanutten Resort and took a little detour to check this place out. We went during the week so it wasn’t crowded and there weren’t lots of cars driving through. The views were gorgeous and I love the way the...More

I feel very strong that the National Park system is an American treasure. The Skyline Drive is a good example. 105 miles with 75 overlooks that are maintained. You can actually see something besides the overgrowth. You must allow time to take in all the...More

The Shenandoah Park is massive with hundreds of miles of trails, and several overlooks on Skyline Drive – a road that traverses the entire length of the Park from the North to the South. We only drove down a small section of this drive while...More

Amazing trip on good roads, several thousand feet up. Forget Big Sur or Amalfi Drive, this is the absolute dogs! Very, very many places to pull over and see breathtaking vistas on both sides of the road, either the Shenandoah Valley or Northern Virginia.

Drive by car, motorcycle or hike in the woods and picnic. Everything is there and nature is at the rendezvous. If you want to enjoy it, take a few days to visit because more than 100 miles long and overlooks almost every 2 miles and...More

This is a beautiful drive although I would definitely advise doing it during the week and avoiding weekends if possible. Many pull outs and some trails. Stops at visitor centers with shops/restaurant also possible. Speed limits are low which is great since wildlife can cross...More

We took the Skyline Drive from North to South and although a bit misty to start the views were wonderful, we stopped at most of the turnouts for photos and went to both the visitor centres which each had something different to offer and well...More

We were blessed to drive some of this on a Sunday and the rest on a Monday. What a difference day makes! Monday was so much quieter and less busy. This made the whole experience that much better. Pull-offs are generous and easily marked.
