Was not as impressed by the trail as others may have been. Personally prefer the drive thru the park or Cades Cove. It was a curvy road and we saw no wildlife.

The road is narrow, but I still think a simple drive. Just stop if you want to take a picture. It also a few stops to stop and look at cabins and beautiful stream views. Also it is very close to Gatlinburg.

Yes, I drive a SUV. Just take your time around some of the turns. There are plenty of locations for the dog. I would recommend if you have the time to go through Cedes cove scenic drive. It is longer than Roaring Fork, but... More

Rainbow falls is open because it's accessible from the other small loop but the main road for Roaring Forks is closed.
