You definitely want to stop in here and talk with the ranger if you've never been to this part of the Everglades. Get the layout of what to see and do in this national park. Restroom avaliable.

Called in here on our day trip from Homestead the ranger was very helpful telling us the best walks to complete.
The trip to the National Park was well worth it to see real wildlife

This visitor center had a lot of good introductory information about the Everglades. Definitely stop here to learn instead of Royal Palm.

I stopped into the Ernest Coe Visitor Center before heading down to Flamingo. I’m glad I did! The ranger on duty let me know that several sites were closed either for the season or other reasons. I was able to plan out several spots to head toward. The gift shop had a good amount of books and souvenirs. There is also a small museum with some of the natural features discussed as well as local history including the Nike Missile Base. This is definitely where you want to start any trip into Everglades National Park.

We stopped off here to use the bathroom and check out the gift shop before entering the park. The visitor center and bathrooms are definitely a little run down and the exhibit area is completely closed off. Gift shop is also pretty tiny.
That being said, we had a nice chat with one of the rangers who was outside under an informative pavilion with maps, brochures, etc. We had planned to do Pa-Hay-Okee Overlook, but he recommended we also do the Anhinga Trail. He was very friendly and helpful. His recommendation of the Anhinga Trail was great - if we hadn't stopped there, we wouldn't have seen the many birds, turtles (including a huge Florida softshell turtle), and of course, the famous Everglades alligators! We stopped at Pa-Hay-Okee Overlook as well, which was dry due to lack of rain, but had some interesting pine and cypress stands and a vast prairie area.
Even though the visitors center isn't much to see, we were happy we stopped there and talked to the ranger. He gave us some great info, and his recommendation of the Anhinga Trail was spot-on for seeing "classic" Everglades wildlife.

Nice building, but most of the displays were inoperative or roped off. Gift shop was open and there was a friendly ranger. Absolutely no brochure racks

I realize that many things are still closed due to COVID restrictions, but the visitor center offered very little in the way of souvenirs, books, etc. The bathrooms were nice and clean.

I was thankful this was open due to COVID. We were able to get the stamp for our kids passport books & buy a plate for their walking sticks. The gift shop is the only thing open in the visitors center, but that was all we needed!

Due to covid, there is a station outside where a ranger will give you a map and information. The gift shop is open, but that is all. There is a pond behind the building with fish and maybe an occasional gator. The restrooms are open, so it is a good stop before heading off onto the roads in the park.
You do not need to pay a park entrance fee to get to this visitor center. The booth for that is just up the park's main road beyond the visitor center.

The gift shop was small with a small selection of gifts. The souvenirs were nice but I was disappointed to not find shot glasses. Most park rangers were nice, but there was one older woman who was very rude and refused to take a group photo because we were not wearing masks (in a state with no mask mandate and we were outside).

We saw a manatee in early March when walking across a bridge near the entrance to Biscayne National Park, also in the area.

I have folks wanting to come at end of Jan early Feb and we were wondering from the last hurricane is the Park open to walk around. I have someone that walks slow, has problems walking up stairs, and doesn't pick his feet up much due to a stroke. Do you have easy walk ways...

The park is very accessible. Plenty of trials that are wooden boardwalks in good shape. I was there in October - everything is open.

Hi, We are trying to assess how much of the park is accessible, due to hurricane Irma. Were you able to enter the park and travel around?

We visited in the summer, before the hurricane. I am not sure how hard that area was hit. Can you call them??
