Ok, the bikes are past their best, but mine rode fine. I arrived just before the gates opened. Even though it was Easter Sunday, there were only a few other cars entering at that time and it was obviously the coolest part of the day. I booked a bike in advance, which might not be necessary if you go that early, but certainly is if you go later - by the time I returned at 11:30, there was a waiting list for bikes and people just had to wait for bikes to be returned before setting off.

I went really slowly for the first half, because there was just so much to see! I was stopping every 30 seconds or so. A lot of people were flying past me and would have missed a lot. I don't really see the point of doing the bike ride if you go fast. May as well not get hot and sweaty and do the tram instead. At the observation tower I turned around and went back the same way, as I heard that there was less wildlife on the second half of the loop. On the return leg I pretty much zoomed back in about 40 mins as I had seen so much on the first leg and it was getting very hot. I did still stop a few times and saw some new things. I saw so many people just starting off at the hottest time of the day and it seemed a bit crazy - plan better!

I liked the bike option because I could take things at my own pace, which allowed me to stop often, but I was also able to go all the way to the observation tower and back within 3 hours. I'm glad I did as I saw different things the further along I went, although for those with less time/physical ability, even going 2 miles out and back would still be worthwhile. Definitely do-able on foot, but it would be a long day in the sun to go all the way to the tower and back.

I went on a 1.5 hour airboat tour after, which was super fun and interesting, but I saw many more gators and birds at Shark Valley. It was a great combination to do for a daytrip.

We came here 2 hours before it shut and it was practically empty of people. We saw quite a few different alligators and baby ones, turtles and different types of birds. We walked the pathway, not all the way as it's too far but you can ride bikes to get around or hop on the trolley which was about $25 per person which I thought was expensive after already paying to get in anyway. We also came here on a Sunday and it's was very busy and a long wait to get in as parking was full.Id recommend to anyone to come here as it's an experience.

There is a 15km gravel road (2 actually, roughly parallel, one straight and one curvy) along a gravel road originally built for oil and gas exploration, I believe, which resulted in a canal running alongside the straight road. We thought about the taking the tram but the only reason to do that is to get to the observation tower which didn't seem that important. So we decided to walk, not the whole way of course, just an hour and a half out (and back of course). That was a fortunate choice because it enabled us to see some amazing wildlife up close that even the bike riders missed and which you would never see from the tram. We got up close views of a couple great blue herons, lots of green herons and anhingas in the trees, hard shell and soft shell turtles, and lots of alligators. But two things were really outstanding. One was watching the anhingas diving and swimming below the surface catching fish. They would then surface and flip the fish up so it would go down their gullet, then repeat the swim and catch process over and over. They would swim along the canal at about the same pace as our walking. The other was a nest of little speckled lizards making peeping sounds just 3 ft off the road, which we didn't recognize right away as baby alligators (we are from Ohio, we don't have alligators here) until their mama let us know she was definitely not happy to see us there by sneaking up and then thrashing her tail in the water right nearby. You would never have seen either of these on a bike or the tram. This was the highlight of our 12 day trip to FL.

Amazing trolley tour of Shark Valley. We saw lots of wildlife, alligators, birds, a crocodile. Our guide Taylor, was extremely knowledgeable as was the driver, Bethany. We learned so much about the Everglades and thought this tour was brilliant!

We went on the 2-hour guided tram tour of Shark Valley. It was a good way to see the area, hear the history, and look around

We were there on March 28th and we did the 4:00 pm tour. We arrived a couple hours early so we can get parking. We did not have any problems finding a parking spot. I read earlier that parking was a problem. I do have to say there are some stupid people in this world, why I say this, I watched a guy and his kids take a selfie with an alligator up close. That gator could have gotten one of them easy. If you walk around you do need to watch out for gators especially in the evening. The tram driver was very observant, he stopped the tram and picked up a baby turtle off the road and showed everyone on the tram. We enjoyed the tour overall.

Thank goodness we heard from another visitor to the Everglades that this was not an easy place to enter and park. We arrived before they opened the gates at 8:30. There are only 100 parking spots inside the park, and cars were lined up back to the gate when we left around 11:30. We chose the two-hour tram ride, a WONDERFUL experience. Lots of close up encounters with alligators and unique birds. The driver and narrator were very experienced in sighting creatures and had a thorough knowledge of the history of and challenges to the Everglades.

Definitely need to stop here. A wonderful view of the Everglades and very informative guides. Make sure to go early as the parking lot fills up and 1 car can enter as 1 car leaves.

Our second day in the Everglades was spent at the Shark Valley entrance to the park. Initially, we planned on renting bikes to take in the 15 mile loop road, but all bikes had been rented. We took the tram ride instead and learned so much about the park during this 90 minute tour from our guide. The road is narrow and the bike riders had to stop and pull off the road when the tram passed. Also, many of the riders looked wiped out...15 miles of steady heat will take its toll on the most prepared and fit cyclists! We were glad the bikes were all rented! We saw many birds and alligators. After spending the first day in Flamingo, Shark Valley was not as exciting, but a great stop nonetheless.

We arrived right as the gates were opening as we wanted to make sure there were rental bikes left. There were many in line already but we were able to rent two adult and two kids bikes for the day. Unfortunately, being so early in the morning in February the gators were few and far between. Both of our kids (7 and 9) actually made it the entire 15 mile loop on their own. We took our time, stopped for water and snack breaks and stopped anytime we saw gators. My husband had been on this trail before and said there were gators all over the place but the weather just wasn’t the best when we visited with the family. Small but cute gift shop with ranger badges and ice cream for the end of our day. Would plan on a half day here.
