So cool!
Apr 2021
The view was amazing! Not sure what it was about the perspective but if you were looking down in the valley while walking it made you feel really disoriented ...but in a cool way if that makes sense lol. We hiked most of the way along the trail but stopped short of what I think was the last hill because the view wasn't really any different as you went down.

Spectacular View
Apr 2021
Take the short hike up the hill to the north if you are able. The views are even better and you might see some wildlife. We had flowers, lizards and a baby horny toad.

Best Site and Experience in Death Valley
Apr 2021
Was there mid-morning with the sun shining West toward Badwater Basin and beyond, and a clear day. Spectacular view, and as many reviewers have commented, a great experience at different times of the day or night. There is an interesting relief map in bronze or some other type of metal that shows where the overlook is and the orientation to Badwater Basin below.

Go at night
Apr 2021
We saw it at night and were fortunate enough to have a nice conversation with a group of astronomers who were stargazing.
Beautiful.

Definitely Stop Here Preferably at Sunrise or Sunset
Apr 2021
If you have a trailer, there are two places to park it as you will not be able to drive it all the way up. We stopped here on our way to the campground with our little trailer in tow. It was relatively easy to unhitch and rehitch but it your's is not, then skip this with the trailer and come back at sunrise or sunset.

I Could See For Miles And Miles
Apr 2021 • Couples
Long drive in, and out on a steep winding road. When you get there, if the weather is clear the view is worth the trip. This is a very popular place to visit, so the paved road can be sometimes busy. We encountered a number of folks that were unhappy with us traveling at or just above the posted speed limit - it seems they were in a hurry.

Fabulous sight and easy to get to.

From Stovepipe Wells, where we stayed, the drive to Dante's view is about 50 miles on paved road. It's worth it, though. Breathtaking view you can see from the parking lot. You don't have to hike.

Highly Recommend
Apr 2021
This overlook is well worth the drive and short hike for the best overview of the valley and the Badwater Basin area. The access road is paved and the parking lot is good-sized. The short hiking paths are well maintained.

Beautiful breathtaking views
Mar 2021
High atop Dante's View above Death Valley you will see what I can only describe as breathtaking, spectacular views. This is a MUST drive that is about located above Badwater Basin, looking out over all of Death Valley, into Panamint Valley and on the clearest of days you will see Mount Whitney - WOW just WOW beautiful!

Making the drive 16 miles south of Furnace Creek was well worth it, with even getting a reprieve in temperature from the valley floor in Death Valley, seeing a significant drop of 10 to 20 degrees. On the particular day we went we even had wind gusts of upwards of 40 mph that had us cautious of getting close to the edge.

Grab your binoculars to spot out different places at 5575 feet above it all - you will want to photograph your smiling faces with the colors of the desert landscape below and the panaromic views all around. Well worth IT!!
