Very Pretty

The mountains are many different colors and it truly looks like they were painted that way. Definitely worth the stop.

Fun Drive and Beautiful Views
May 2021
We loved our time spent on Artist's Drive! The drive itself is fun and offers lots of great views. There are several places to pull over and snap pics and a little parking area with an overlook and pit toilets. At the overlook we hopped out and spent some time walking along the canyon and it was a lot of fun. There are some really beautiful colors to take in.

The road is paved the entire way but there are some major dips and tight spots that would make it impossible for some vehicles to navigate. Please be sure to follow the vehicle requirements - they aren't suggestions!

We drove down to Badwater and then did this drive on the way back up to our hotel. It's a fun drive whether you want to get out and explore or if you just want to experience the park from your air-conditioned car.

Interesting Colors, Worth a Stop Plus a Nice Drive
Apr 2021
Much different than other parts of Death Valley. A convenient stop when visiting other sites. Narrow, but good road with some interesting views of rock formations. Relaxing drive.

The colors!
Apr 2021
This was a fun little drive. We joked that the colors reminded us of sherbert ice cream lol. There were a few twists and dips that made the drive all that much more interesting

Cool drive even regardless of colors
Apr 2021
Fun drive through winding canyon. We did drive around sunset expecting to see major color changes. Didnt really but that didnt take away from the coolness of the drive

Up one canyon and then down
Apr 2021
What an excellent drive. I had wished the colors would have been brighter but still an excellent drive. And being it's all one-way it allows you to take it slower. You go up one canyon and down another. And the rocks along the way are awesome.

Not Very Bright
Apr 2021
We expected to see lots of bright colors, but the colors we saw weren't very bright. It was interesting though. I'd do it again.

Different colors of a desert
Apr 2021 • Friends
We took the road from Las Vegas. Almost 2 and a half hours. The road to get there reminds me the poster of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind". Looooong road thru a dessert to see another desert. It's beautiful but long way to great views of interactions of colors in the dessert. If you go by yourself, full the car. Once I was worried because no sign of life for miles, and my car spent a lot of gas. Thankfully we found a town. If you do first The Grand Canyon, this place will be just ok. For me, nothing special.

Just Okay
Apr 2021 • Couples
This is a nice enough drive on a paved well maintained winding one way road. The few pullouts offered some somewhat colorful views, but not as spectacular as we expected. It is an easy detour off the road back from Bad Water, but I am not sure it is worth a special trip to see it.

A long winding drive to view different colored mineral colored hills

Someone decided they needed a tourist activity and created anything BUT an Artist's Drive. Don't bother.
