Truly an Oasis in the Desert
Apr 2021
A great place to visit in Death Valley, totally different than all of the other sites. We did see the pupfish, but difficult to take a picture since they are about one inch long. The water was shallow and the length of the creek was not very long. The creek ended near the parking lot and we noted the small pupfish were swimming upstream in order not to end up on dry land where the water ended. We visited in the morning and the weather was cool with a slight breeze. Do not miss this site when visiting Death Valley!

Favorite part of DV.

This was the best part of Death Valley. The pupfish are a lot of fun to watch. Obviously, it is going to be hot, but this short trail is something you need to do.

DO NOT MISS THIS GEM
Apr 2021
It's a wood-slatted boardwalk trail and would be easier for a wheelchair to maneuver. The interpretive signs are great and we enjoyed seeing the Pupfish and animal tracks. You'll have to drive on a dirt road to get there but it was not an "off-road" type of road. Any sedan could make it. We saw a Tesla in the parking lot.

Must See
Apr 2021
If you are already in the park, you gotta go here. It's not much to see, but to see a stream with fish in it is neat after seeing so much dry land for days.
The pupfish are fun to watch.
The roundtrip boardwalk is a mile. It is flat but there is a short part that goes through the sand if you do the whole circle.
The hill side there in the back is neat too. It looks like it's out of another world.

Go see the pupfish
Apr 2021
If you have any interest in wildlife, this is a must-see site in DVNP. The endangered Death Valley pupfish is easily visible from the boardwalk. I was able to get very good pictures with just my phone camera and even better ones with my DSLR camera. The site itself is located between Furnace Creek and Stovepipe Wells on an unpaved, but well maintained road (high clearance or 4x4 are not necessary).

Unique stop worth popping over to see the pupfish & views!
Mar 2021
Salt Creek Trail is on a boardwalk that is a 1/2 mile loop over desert sand and spring fed salt creek. We were excited to locate the rare pupfish that spawn during Spring months, these tiny pupfish have survived in the Valley for 10,000 years yet surviving after a spawn for year ~ WOW!

Unique stop worth popping over for an easy stroll to see flora, fauna and the rare pupfish. Plenty of parking and bathroom facilities plus picnic tables along with benches throughout the boardwalk to sit and enjoy the beautiful views all around.

Find a pup fish!
Mar 2021
What makes this amazing is that there is a river, with pup fish, in the middle of a desert that gets to be 120 degrees! The trail is easy, and fun to try and find the pupfish. It is worth stopping to read the signs - you will have a whole new appreciation for pupfish!!!

A well kept trail!
Nov 2020
The attraction here is twofold. It is one of the few areas of the park that is somewhat green because of the water in the creek. The wooden walk way hep=lps one look for pupfish-the second attraction-but we did not see any.

Lots of Pup fish
Mar 2020
Kids will love this short loop hike (wheel chair accessible as well). The small creek is heavily populated with pup fish. It's out in the open, so no shade in the mid-day hours.
