Only a short walk from the paved road and available to wheelchairs, the overlook of the Painted Wall and the Gunnison River is probably the best view in the entire national Park.

One of the views in the park that is slightly above average than the rest. Not much different than what you would see in the photo. The canyon wall looks as if it has arteries and veins running across it. Very interesting looking. Short little...More

This was one of the better pull outs in Black Canyon. The South rim is a good drive and if you need to stretch the legs, take the short easy walk at High Point. If you have been to G. Canyon or Bryce Canyon, maybe...More

Probably the best overlook in the park! Wear tennis shoes just because most of the overlooks are trails out to it and a little dusty of course. The rock formations are amazing to see in person. Pictures won’t do it justice. This one is a...More

Great views at this lookout point. In addition it is a nice walk (few hundred feet) to get out of the car and move around. Dogs are allowed on this lookout.

The painted wall is a most impressive sight to behold. It is 2250 feet tall and the highest cliff in Colorado. The wall is veined with pegmatite intrusions. When visiting the Black Canyon, make a point to stop at the Painted Wall viewpoint.
