Despite living in Derby for nearly 40 years and passing Crich Stand on a fairly regular basis, I'd never actually been to it until today! You can drive part of the way up to the memorial and then park on the grass (£1.50 charge in...More

Whenever you drive around the Amber Valley you nearly always catch sight of the Sherwood Foresters memorial at Crich. Go and visit it. A lovely little walk and once you climb the tower you'll love the views. Stunning.

Went to see this memorial on our trip around Derbyshire. We loved the views and the memorial itself is in a fabulous place and is an experience. Climb to the top to experience it fully.

Lovely view up top we did a circular route from belper and it’s just stunning. The place has a lot of history and despite being local I have never been before. It was nice to see it :)

If you are a Military person especially Sherwood Foresters, Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters or Mercian Regiment this is a must visit. The views are breathtaking too. There is a Tea Room on site which sells tea coffee etc and lovely homemade cakes.

A very dignified place for those come to pay their respects; v well kept; fantastic views; come whatever the weather, when windy you literally will loose your breath. I find it best on calm winter days after snow fall where visibility is good, or on...More

Crich stand resembles a lighthouse standing high over the Derwent valley. When built the light atop this tower could be seen for many miles and in theory from anywhere the local regiment recruited. Today the light has been replaced by something less bright. The views...More
