Worth booking a seat to experience it. Scenic almost all the way through the journey. A viewing carriage, and cafe / souvenir compartment too. But you MUST reserve a seat.

It was my first time to visit Kyushu, heard about their train from many reviews. Tickets of this special train need to be prebooked, it's run in few carts. Yufuin is a nice getaway town for onsen. Must visit.

It is an popular train with reserve seat only. When we went to Fukuoka recently, We try to book the train to Yufuin for the following day, we only manage to get the seat for one way from Yufuin to Hakata. Thus, we have to take the normal train YUFU to travel from Hakata to Yufuin. It is advisable to reserve seat online if you really make sure want to take this Yufuin No Mori, Of course, you need to pay Yen 1000 per passenger per trip for the seat reservation. The seat reservation can be done one month in advance The JR North Kyushu Rail Pass holder entitle to reserve the seat for Yufuin Nor Mori…

Too much hype and in the end it was a comfortable ride but below expectation. One good point is that you can buy B-Speak roll cake on board (limited stock). Note that you need to get reserve seat to ride on this train.
