I like trams, as they're a mode of transportation not available at home, so I was keen to take at least one trip on the Hankai Tramway. I took the Hankai Tramway to get to Sumiyoshi Taisha. The tram station is just outside Tennoji Station,...More

This is not the most sceneic of trains, but many have a timeless feel about them. My first ride was a modern street car on this historic line. We were happy to get it because it was air-conditioned perfectly on an incredibly hot and humid...More

As it was nice and fine today, I decided to walk down to the nearest tram stop to go to the Nihonbashi area to buy an optical digital audio cable. Wherever you may get on a tram and wherever you may get off the tram,...More

The tramway has two lines joined in the shape of a "Y". This facilitates transfers between them. I started on one leg near the Zoo, traveled South and joined the other to return to Tennoji station. I asked for a transfer ticket on exiting. It...More

This tramway is very convenient when travelling to Sen Rikyus museum or Sumiyoshi Taisha. But it is not an experience to get excited about.

The Hankai tram/streetcar itself is very interesting for those interested in the old, outdated, almost obsolete, modes of transportation (such as antique cars, steam locomotives, etc.). Found the actual route (Tennoji-ekimae to Hamadera-ekinae) somewhat disappointing, expected it to be all along the streets (like San...More

I use this almost everyday for commuting to Tennoji. For tourists I would recommend avoiding it in morning and evening peak hour. It can also be busy all day on the weekend. As someone said earlier, it is an easy way to Sumiyoshi Taisha (Shrine)....More

This old tramline is a timetrip. Unfortunately the oldest carriages were towed to the scapyard recently. There are several lines. One leads from Tennoji Eki Mae to my favourite Sumiyoshi Jinja in Suminoe-ku. A ticket costs 200 Yen, regardless how many stops you travel.

I went to Ebisucho station of this Hankai Line. The trains are running on the road while the Metro (Subway/ Tube) network are well developed in this Osaka City. I liked this old fashioned train and station in the urban Osaka.

An old-school tram/streetcar for those who are interested in those kinds of things and an interesting way to get to Sumiyoshi Shrine.
