Level 9 and 10 for food
Jan 2020 • Couples
Came here to explore the food options. They have great restaurants on L9 and L10, you will be spoilt for choices. It gets pretty crowded before 12noon for lunch so do come early to avoid the queues.
We had a great set Tendon lunch at Toc Toc. They serve very fresh fish tendon sets.

Lunch
Jan 2020 • Couples
Came here after reading recommendation on good restaurants on level 9 & 10. Ate at Toc Toc, sushi restaurant. Ordered donburi with 10 types of seafood. The fish was simply delicious, try the special sesame dipping sauce, it enhances the taste.

Will come back to another restaurant here again.

Transport hub connecting Hakata with the rest fo the country
Dec 2019
This property host a transport hub connecting Hakata, Fukuoka with the rest of Japan. Shinkansen from here can take you to Tokyo in about 3 hours or less. The JR station plus the plaza host not only transport around the country but also the metro and buses around Fukuoka. The best thing is, it in a self contained place with shopping, supermarket eateries and also entertainment. There is a tourist counter just a short distance from the JR station inside the plaza where you can purchase tickets for bus/ metro around the area.

I was fortunate to be visiting during December and witnessed an event themed after the Munich Beer Fest with decorations for Christmas and live singing in the evening by sopranos. There were food stalls and of course beer with seating for people coming to enjoy the festivities.

The Hankyu Departmental store host also a supermarket and bakeries on the basement level. Other common and luxury brands are also present within this plaza. One could spend a considerable amount of time in this plaza. The most appealing thing for me was also that the plaza in its length basically took me to the intersection across my hotel so I could be spared from rain or strong winds.

As I travelled everyday by train/metro I would visit this place at least twice in a day but still have many unexplored area waiting for my next trip here.

shopping galore
Nov 2019
A typical Japanese shopping centre embedded with JR Hakata station 博多駅. Here there are myriad shops including several restaurants on the higher floors. The buys here are mainly local designer-fashion wears of cloths bags shoes, of chic lifestyle .
It comprises of a cinema complex the Amu Plaza, with Tokyu Hands as anchor tenant and 200+ other shops. Hakata Hankyu, with its modern, spacious and clean look is just beside too. Its close proximity to JR, the Shinkansen and the Subway meant this is always a crowded place at all times. And the bus terminal is just next door. A little know secret is the Tsubame No Mori Hiroba, is a roof top observatory space with rich greeneries. The 60m high Observatory high provides a panoramic view of Fukuoka City.
Twice we were here in Dec and the Hakata Christmas Market setup is simply amazing!
Love the place

Great for pokemon fans, or fans of cute soft toys & figurines
Nov 2019 • Family
If it is your first time in fukuoka, it is not the easiest place to find. The AMU plaza is part of a huge complex housing Hakata train station. So you need to locate which part is AMU plaza.

Then take the lift to level 8. As you exit the lift, turn left and you will see pokemon centre in about 20m.

It's a nice shop. Not huge, but big enough to satisfy any fan. There are lots of soft toys, figurines and other souvenirs. The kids went crazy!

I rate it 3/5 for non-fans, and 4/5 for fans.

Lots to see and look at on several floors all accessible by escalators or lifts, although the lifts can take ages. Easy to spend hours here.

Good place to kill time
Sep 2019
After an early check-out from our Airbnb and 5 hours to waste before our train ride to Okayama decided to eat here.

There are several restaurants on the 10th and 9th floors; we decided to eat at Ishizuki (soba noodles) and it was a good choice.

Since we still had 3+ hours we visited Maruzen (book store with substantial manga and English sections) and the Pokemon center on the 8th floor.

This is a highly recommended place to kill time if you are planning to jump to a shinkansen due to its proximity to Hakata station; just watch your clock (and don’t miss your train).

Typical Japanese Shopping Center But A Good One
Oct 2019
This is a good version of a typical Japanese shopping Center. It is modern, clean and has it all with a number of brand and well known stores as well as numerous restaurants. It is however a shopping center and you should have a purpose for the visit otherwise go to the history Old Hakata area nearby for a culture fix.

They have a Pokemon Center and a cool Japanese candy store
Jul 2018 • Solo
This is a very large shopping mall over the Hakata Station. It's easy enough to navigate if you follow the maps. Chief attractions are the Pokemon Center(!) and a very nice candy store just near the Northern entrance on the ground floor.
