We were taken to this incredible place by a friend who has written a book about the area. We spent an enchanting weekend here and a good couple of hours walking up to the castle, and having lunch nearby.

The steep climb from the parking area was worth the effort. The vistas all around were very intriguing: small villages in the valleys, modern farms, vineyards, and neighboring hilltop castles. The atmosphere was low-key, with justr a few shops open to provide locally-made artifacts rather...More
Visited in early Oct during the week. A bit to late really but still got the feel of the place. Shops were not open. Neither were the restaurants. But what a place. Perched on the highest land with very long views. Amazing how they got...More

Every time we come here, we’re astounded. Totally unique! Best to come outside July and August when you have to park at the bottom and fight Italians (tip: be cheekier than they are!) to get on the shuttle bus to the top. It’s much better...More

I do not know the exact bus that you need to take. Sorry. But the Best spot to start the hike if you are physically fit is... start at Bar Di Vittoria. And hike directly thought the town, you need to see the beautiful houses and the culture of this amazing town. Once you are at the top road of Calascio, you have the choice to take the road up to the castle, which is a easier but longer route. If you want to take the shorter route, there is a little path through the grass all the way up to La Rocca
