Birds of Eden is part of the South African Animal Sanctuary Alliance (SAASA). Birds of Eden is the largest single-dome free flight aviary in the world, spanning 2.3 hectares of natural forests, streams and dams. With over a kilometre of walkways, visitors can experience the thrill of spotting almost 3500 previously captive birds of over 200 different species flying free and living natural lives. The scenery alone warrants a visit with hundreds of different plant and tree species plus there are giant fruit bats, golden-handed tamarins and the smallest of the antelopes, Blue duikers. Visits to Birds of Eden are self-guided and you are free to wander for as long as you wish at your own pace. Guided tours for group bookings can also be arranged on request at no additional cost.

This is our second trip to Birds of Eden and it didn't disappoint. Turacos here, there and everywhere! They are a true wonder of nature and I could spend hours just watching them. Take comfy walking shoes, binoculars and definitely buy the book they offer...More

Great for a relaxing morning or afternoon out. Very enjoyable to walk through and spot the various birds flying past and to see then up close at the feeding stations. Walkways and facilities are in good shape, and birds look to be healthy and happy....More

Was there 10 years ago, then beautiful trees, many colourful exotic rescue birds. Now many trees overgrown by creepers, many trees died or collapsed, poor light in bottom section. Exotic birds have perished, replaced by indiginous birds. Plus is an increase of population of Louries....More

This is next door to the monkeys so you are likely to visit both. The place is amazing, but it is such a shame there are no information boards to help you identify the birds you see. Also many of the birds do not come...More

This is a must if you visit Plettenberg. It's a vast area providing sanctury to amazing birds. It's cleverly arranged as a walk through with exciting findings of the most colourful birds st every section. Truly fantastic

Any bird in this aviary is a lucky bird! We had a lovely hour exploring the site: take your time and marvel at the vision of the enterprise.

Definitely one of the most beautiful bird parks in South Africa! Birds are well looked after. The forest makes you feel like you are in their home rather than them in ours. The forest and it's birds lives up to its name as the Garden/Birds...More

This is a very well designed exhibit. Admittedly,, not all the birds are endemic to South Africa, but the birds are flying free, and there are lots of opportunities to watch birds at close quarters.

This came highly rated, and we were not disappointed. The walkways and suspended walkways made for a fun and memorable experience. We had tea and scones in the little coffee shop inside the park. Best tea and scones outside of UK!
