Birds of Eden is part of the South African Animal Sanctuary Alliance (SAASA). Birds of Eden is the largest single-dome free flight aviary in the world, spanning 2.3 hectares of natural forests, streams and dams. With over a kilometre of walkways, visitors can experience the thrill of spotting almost 3500 previously captive birds of over 200 different species flying free and living natural lives. The scenery alone warrants a visit with hundreds of different plant and tree species plus there are giant fruit bats, golden-handed tamarins and the smallest of the antelopes, Blue duikers. Visits to Birds of Eden are self-guided and you are free to wander for as long as you wish at your own pace. Guided tours for group bookings can also be arranged on request at no additional cost.

This is a really lovely spot. The only place I've ever been that is similar is the jungle biosphere at the Eden project. Once you are in you are assailed by the most amazing displays of colour. Stunning birds in a huge, safe space. Everywhere...More

I saw many gorgeous birds and birds I have never seen before. They are all just wandering around the park. There are even flamingos! I wish they had a tour guide because I had no idea what each type of bird was. Would still recommend!

We stopped by one morning on our way to Kynsna and easily spent 1.5hrs here wandering around. A great variety of birds including water birds at the pool/lagoon - we had to shuffle past a couple of flamingos who were resting on the footpath! Some...More

A late afternoon visit meant some birds had roosted for the night so some advertised birds were not evident but even then there were many interesting and varied species. The attraction is extremely well constructed to lead you from the forest floor to the canopy...More

We planned our trip to include a visit to Birds of Eden. My family was more impressed than me. For me it was a bit pricey, but it is certainly worth a visit.

Really lovely visit, very knowledgeable staff - also a coffee shop with great carrot cake. The birds were all so beautiful, diverse and even friendly - one parrot came and hopped on our shoulders!

Our second visit to Birds of Eden. Personally I detest having to see animals in cages, but this is a sure winner amongst the little ones. Pity about all the rescued "house" parrots sitting around saying "hello" to passers-by.

No, you can use it within a few days. But also include the Jukani wildlife park into your combo ticket. It is wort a visit. Combo tickets can be used to visit the park in the morning, and maybe return late afternoon again... More
