Overview
More
Birds of Eden is part of the South African Animal Sanctuary Alliance (SAASA). Birds of Eden is the largest single-dome free flight aviary in the world, spanning 2.3 hectares of natural forests, streams and dams. With over a kilometre of walkways, visitors can experience the thrill of spotting almost 3500 previously captive birds of over 200 different species flying free and living natural lives. The scenery alone warrants a visit with hundreds of different plant and tree species plus there are giant fruit bats, golden-handed tamarins and the smallest of the antelopes, Blue duikers. Visits to Birds of Eden are self-guided and you are free to wander for as long as you wish at your own pace. Guided tours for group bookings can also be arranged on request at no additional cost.

This is a very pleasant place to visit for a couple of hours. There are many birds to see in forested surroundings. There are several feeding stations where birds tend to congregate and are more easily photographed. The visit is not guided so one can...More

This was a beautiful experience. The birds are so calm and one even came to sit on my shoulder, to bite my hat (I didn't even mind). I would definitely recommend this place to photographers or anyone that is an animal lover.

We were lucky as despite heavy rain we still saw masses of birds. A really beautifully laid out large area for the birds to fly freely. About 3500 species

Visited after monkey world and were pleasantly surprised. This is a self guided tour so would strongly recommend buying a guide book which is excellent and only 20r. The number of birds starts slowly but as you go along the walkways you see more and...More

We are not "Birders" but this large aviary was recommended. We were in the area so we stopped. The birds were very colorful and easy to see up close. Not intimidated by people. We very much enjoyed the visit.

The number of beautiful birds is amazing, beautifully set out with a gentle walk around the Aviary. Good café at the end serving really good food.
