We booked this adventure believing it would be an educational, exclusive close encounter with elephants for our two families (8 people in total). Unfortunately we had to join up with a tour bus carrying a total of 24 tourists who shared the experience with us. Even if it was a cool experience walking hand in trunk with an elephant, it... We stopped off here on our way back to Cape Town. The walking tour allows you to get closeup to the elephants, feed them apples, hold their trunk and touch them to get an idea of how tough their skin is. The keepers give a good overview of some of the common elephant characteristics too. You can also take a... More

Lovely to see the elephants who have been rescued and who are extremely well cared for now roaming around together. We found the visit very informative and got to handle the elephants and feed them and we also had a little elephant ride too! We absolutely loved t :-)

Just thinking about my experience here is making me well up. A completely unique experience. The elephants are absolutely beautiful and because of the handlers they have, they are so gentle. I highly recommend the elephant walk. You get to walk next to an elephant hand in trunk. At the end of the walk you get to feed them and... More

While I do prefer to see elephants in the wild, this is a fantastic sanctuary. Well appointed tours. You can get very close to the elephants and touch them too. They have zebras in the enclosure roaming around. A good day with nature

Being up close to the lovely animals is an experience not to be missed . The rangers were brilliant with the elephants and walking holding their trunks was a great way of bonding with these gentle creatures

Wasn't 100 percent sure that this Elephant Sanctuary wouldn't be like a circus. It certainly isn't and the elephants are treated well and sympathetically. You are also taught quite a bit about the elephants and you come away better informed. The fact that these elephants have been rescued is also a bonus.

I wasn't sure about this sanctuary due to elephants being used as a tourist attraction but it opened my eyes to it all in a good way. There were 5 elephants. At least 2 of the female ones had had their trunks caught in traps and so couldn't feed so easily. These animals are so well looked after, and even... More
