AfriCanyon offers an incredibly unique experience on the Garden Route, South Africa. Africanyon's professionally trained guides will take you into a world unknown, a hidden gem. You will abseil in and around waterfalls, zip-line, swim and enjoy optional jumps - while taking in the incredible beauty that exists in a canyon-world hidden from all. Also called canyoneering, gorge-walking and known as "Kloofing" locally. AfriCanyon is Open Daily. Choose between the Standard trip or the Short trip options. Excellent family canyoning experience with a 13 and 14 year old. We absolutely loved the experience. Our guides Warren and Puna were excellent and kept us safe at all times. The adrenaline was seriously pumping but we so enjoyed ourselves abseiling, ziplining, jumping off rocks and swimming along the watercourse. Beautiful location. Five stars!

10/10 experience!!
We went for the standard canyoning trip in the morning and it was the best start in the day. The tour was perfect and involved abseiling, big jumps, zip lines and stunning nature. We went with Steph and Darren, our guides, who made us feel 100% safe the entire time and made this trip extra fun. Thank you guys so much, we highly recommend this experience for everyone who loves adventure.

We were a small group of 4 people, with Steph and Darren as our guides. The views were amazing, the experience in between these rocks aswell, however, it would not have been nearly as good or fun without these guys leading us (& cheering us on). At no point did I feel unsafe or scared. BEST CANYONING TOUR EVER! I can only recommend the tour AND the guides. Heaps of fun and can only recommend!!

We never did canyoning before and this has made us want to do more of it !! The two guides - Tebzzz and King Julian - made it so so fun and especially very safe. Totally recommend. Thank you guys, see you!

This was a highlight of our honeymoon in SA! Everything from start to finish was efficient, organised and seamless. Safety equipment and procedures were obviously prioritised whilst not wasting any time on the boring parts.
The canyoning itself was incredible, made even better by Steph and Darren. Such big charismatic personalities that brought the group together and made us all feel at ease. So much fun and the best guys for the job. Loved every second of it and would do it a million times over. Thank you for such a great experience

Thank you to Tebbzzz and King Julian for a fantastic canyoning trip today! We thoroughly enjoyed the experience & your guys' smiles and humour really made the tour. The organisation was spot on, the equipment was in good condition and we felt very safe throuought. My friend was very nervous but we always felt in good hands with these two guides 🙌🏼 We would definitely recommend this experience to friends and also to the adventurous clients we send to South Africa. All in all a 5 star experience, great value for money and heaps of fun 😀 p.s. see you for dinner at 7.30

We recently did this adventure and noted the extensive disclaimer. Including a disclaimer of Africanyon for all negligence, We asked Rogan for further information and also asked if they had had any client injuries or incidents. He recalled two. A shoulder displacement and one other related to an ankle. He further added that safety was paramount.
I am incredibly disappointed upon further investigation to see the following article. ‘A BELGIAN tourist drowned after being swept down a river during a kloofing expedition outside Plettenberg Bay ...” “The body was handed over to the police and their forensic pathology team and an inquest docket has been opened.”
The remaining five men were not injured. They were part of a group who had gone on the expedition with local adventure company Africanyon.
Founder of Africanyon Rogan Hindmarch said yesterday they were investigating the incident and would be releasing more information by today.”
Whilst my family has a lovely time, I do feel mislead as our questions relating to safety and previous incidents where pretty specific.

Dear Cathy,
The question that was posed by your husband was "had we ever had any injuries or incidents whilst abseiling or zip-lining?"
I remember the question specifically as i knew I was talking to an attorney and I believe I answered the question truthfully.
While I did not mention the devastating event that happened to us due to unpredicted nor forecasted very heavy rain that resulted in a flash flood I understand your disappointment and apologise for this. My intention was not to mislead you in any way.
Safety is of paramount importance to us and we strive every day to allow our guests to partake in adventure and Fun whist always trying our best to maintain a very high standard of safety.
Im glad that Ian and your son had a lovely time.

Is kloofing advisable for someone who cannot swim well? i.e. able to float and move about 50metres

Hi - Yes swimming skills are not essential. everybody has a life jacket so you float down the river and your guides will certainly assist you.
