I debated on coming here and was so glad that I did!  Go in the evening.  I loved it!  The views are stunning.  I know it isn't Singapore or New York but this was still nice.  Great atmosphere.  I went on a Thursday evening.  It was busy but not packed.  So sexy and romantic.  Great for a date!   I easily got a seat right by the water.  It was lovely.  I enjoyed the views, the soft music and had a bite to eat.  There are mainly drink stalls and light food to go with your drinks like onion rings, pizza and the usual Asian options.  Not like a night market.  Very clean.  Cheap.  Vendors are pleasant and friendly.  Cosy and not too big.  There is a lot of seating.  I would probably avoid a weekend when I am guessing it is super packed.  Thursday evening was perfect!  Make sure the weather is nice as it is all open.  Reminded me a lot of Asiatique The Riverfront in Bangkok.  If you want a change from night markets, shopping malls and neon lights, I would highly recommend going!

Decided to walk over from the red house as it looked close enough (1km walk). While the walk itself was fine, the pier was underwhelming. It’s not accessible via metro and honestly there’s nothing much to see unless you want to see 1 or 2 bars in a pop up container thing

Worth making it along for sunset but find a spot away from the crowds of ‘instagrammers’ and noisy bars.

The area next to the pier is a recent tourist trap / pop up with trendy music and overpriced pizza bars. The river isn’t pleasant up close either so enjoy the views before heading into town for twilight.

Not so easy to go if you are walking and not much to see. Better to stay on Di Hua Street 1st section to look after the old architecture and fancy shops

This pier or wharf is along Tamsui river. It is now a connector along the river for many activities - walking, running, cyclying, tennis, exercise, etc.

The vast river expanse separating Taipei from New Taipei City is a sight to behold. Along the river are pathways suitable for running or cycling and small food shops incentivize the casual passersby to take a moment and sit down.

We're lucky that we stayed in this neighborhood as we got to experience the older part of Taipei. The streets, stores took one back in time...something we sorely missed while traveling in major cities in Asia. Dadacheng Pier offers a nice view of the river and on clear evenings, sunset over the river (beautiful). There's also supposedly a ferry which takes you up north to Tamshui. the pier has been transformed into a more touristy place with food and beer stalls.

You can rent a bike near here, or you can use an app like oBike and find a nearby one.

The path is very flat, with lots of nature to see and places to sit. There are also some vending machines along the way if you get thirsty.

The pier used to be a busy river trading post. It is now a popular tourists spot. There are some food stalls next to the pier so you could enjoy the view with food and drinks (beers too). Some food stalls have rooftop seating so you could have your food and drinks on the rooftop while enjoying the river view.

It offers a great view of the Tamsui river, and is a nice place to talk a walk. Bicycles are available for rent if one prefers not to walk.
