Having a 6 hour drive from Hermanus to Plettenberg, I was keen to find a mid-way point activity to break the journey and found Inverroche of TA. Whilst Gin making might not be the most sensible choice with a further three hours ahead, boy, are we delighted we took the chance and what was meant to be a stop-gap idea turned into one of the unexpected highlights of our magical Garden Rout adventure.
After a 20 minute detour off the N2, we found the distillery and in blinding sunlight walked in to the cool reception and was pleased to say, they were waiting for us, (me having written numeroud emails to arrange the visit) with a welcoming ice-cold G+T which was delicious!
We were welcomed into the lounge area and then the wonderful Suretta took us through to the distillation/prep room next door. In front of us was a selection of 24 botanicals and Suretta explained the Gin making process. We also got to try the three main Inverroche Gins which each had very distinctive characteristics (I sipped with the car journey ahead!). We sniffed, tasted, rubbed and chose which four or five main ingredients were going into our unique gins, crushed them with a pestle and mortar and put them into a make-shift teabag to infuse the gin with. It really was both fun and informative.
Whilst the concoction was distilling, we went back to the loung to have some delicious snacks and a drink before we returned to bottle our gins.
My wife added some natural colour to hers (pink) and we were even able to name and label our creations.
Suretta was just a joy; so enthusiatic, she couldn't wait to take photos of us and with us and even took us on a tour of the real distillery. The lady on the front desk who I think was in charge (so sorry I forgot your name) was also super friendly and we walked out of Inverroche with two bottles of our unique gin and smiles as wide as could be. We couldn't believe how a little filler of an idea had worked out so wonderfully and I would have no hesitation in recommending you do this experience...you won't regret it I can assure you!

What a beautiful place with the most amazing scenary. Myself and my friends absolutely enjoyed the outing. Nandi did the Gin Tasting formalities, and how professional and an absolute blast she was, what a friendly young lady she is. I enjoyed every moment of the tasting with Nandi. We will surely visit Inverroche again.

Beautiful setting. Wonderful product. Well presented. Then the service. Never seen so many waiters per customer yet zero service! We were only two people ordering two dishes but still couldn’t get it right. It’s not as though the place was full either. 4 tables total. PS we are still waiting 45min later…

We had booked for a gin and chocolate pairing, one I had not done before. It was very interesting, with the first 2 chocolates being very different, and great pairings. Unfortunately the chocolates were not on sale to buy in the shop. I loved the new Pioneer Gin.
The lady presenting the tasting was very good, with a lovely personality!

Just a 20 minute detour off the N2 sign posted Stilbaai was a special occasion awaiting us.

Arriving at my husbands favourite Gin Distillery on our way to Plett.

The warm welcome we received at Inveroche was worth the detour.

Taking advantage of the Gin tasting was an educational experience.

The four Inveroche Gins offered were all paired with a different fever tree mixer and citrus fruit shavings together with a dark chocolate.

At 40 rand what great value.

We will be back.

What an amazing experience. You start off in the room with all the distilled pots, glass of gin and staff who is very knowledgeable. At a stage you go to the courtyard, to enjoy delicious snack platters. Then back to making and bottling and labeling your own gin. Most memorable and fun experience, especially if done with friends.

My wife loves inverroche gin and the last time we were there they had even explored craft beer
It is sad to say that they now offer very little other than their products which no longer includes craft beer
the website information has been misleading, incorrect or out dated
to be honest we had more fun across the road at the press room café

if you are in the area you may as well go but you are limited to their standard products that you can get anywhere, often time cheaper than at the distillery
not worth going out of your way for... anymore

One of the success stories in SA gin production can be found near Cape Town - and is well worth an educational and fun visit. There is a lot to learn about this perennial spirit which has been infused by local natural botanicals. A wonderful story of hard work and success. The gin comes in various decoctions and flavours. Highly recommended. Safe parking. Nice tourist area.
