did the whole journey which is lovely and very scenic the guard on board was very entertaining and informative . we had a drink and snack from the tea room before the journey and it was excellent

Travelled from Bishop Auckland West (not to be confused with Bishop Auckland national rail station) to Stanhope and return in a 1958 heritage single diesel railcar. Wonderful views through the large windows to the side and front. Very enthusiastic and helpful volunteer crew on board....More

We have been on many preserved railways and this has to be one of the best. The countryside is beautiful and the ticket prices very reasonable. Good luck to them.

Take the time to have a scone on the platform at Stanhope railway station! A perfect balance of sugar/salt/fruit, and offered with butter, jam and cream. Go and try one!

Had a great time on the train to christmas town, well organised, great staff and great fun. Loved being n PJ’s and the kids loved it, even the husband had a smile n his face!

The Railway currently runs Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday the first train leaves Stanhope at 10am

Im not sure, it depends when your going and it states the odd one runs on a Monday. Think it runs mostly on the weekends. Would suggest contacting the station itself for more info.
