The road to the monastery was along the side of the amazing topographical landscape that defines the island of Crete. The mountain ranges change from mountains that look like gigantic boulders to flat top ranges and boulder-strewn mountains that rise to the heavens. They are...More

A beautiful monastery by the sea. Tradition says that a stairway was gold or that under it there were buried gold or gold jewels. The church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. From its courtyard you can admire the sea and the plain of Chrysoskalitissa....More

Yes it's Monastery, but that's about it really. Tiny exhibition and little to see. Not worth going here.

This is a nice monastery. It is old enough and has a lot of history. It is an interesting place to visit before of after a swim at Elafonisi or Kedrodasos. Near there is also Leuki Limni, a place from paradise, where you can swim.

The church is small and not particularly lavish by Greek Orthodox standards. The museum is too dark to see anything. Don't moan at the €2 admission just think of it as a charitable donation to the Local economy.

We stopped off here on our way to Elafanissi beach. It's an easy walk up the steps with great views. Lots of history.
