One of our best wine tasting experience because the staff showed interest and took time explaining the wines, history of the farm and the surrounding areas. It's the home of the du Toit family so it has a lot of rugby related memorabilia belonging to Pieter-Steph du Toit and his grandfather who was also a Springbok rugby player. We were pushed for time so didn't get to do the olive oil tasting which we were later told we should have done. They also suggested that we stop over at the Barn for lunch as it has great views over the town with good food at reasonable prices.…

While using Tripadvisor to see what there is to see and do in and around Riebeek Kasteel I came across Kloovenburg. A friend of mine also mentioned one day that the farm belongs to family of the Springbok rugby player Pieter Steph Du Toit. So, of to Kloovenburg we went. The farm is easily accessible, it is right next to the main road, shortly before you enter the beautiful town of Riebeek Kasteel. What makes it even more special than just any other wine farm is the fact that they are also an olive estate and sell all these wonderful olive products. I unfortunately did not purchase anything. We flew to the Cape, our suitcases were packed and bursting out of their zippers after being in the Cape for a week by the tine we went to Kloovenburg. But, you can order online and have all their wonderful products including the delicious wines, delivered to your doorstep. I did a wine tasting which was lovely. It is a beautiful farm, with lovely ladies in reception, the "olive department" and manning the "wine bar". We spent way too little time at this time. I definitely know we will return.…

Really an awesome tasting experience with friendly staff, which made it feel more like visiting good friends with great wine rather than a wine tasting. We spent almost 2 hours here and only did an olive and wine tasting but had such a good "kuier" with the gentleman running the tasting. The tasting was very affordable and we were never made to feel like we have to buy. I would definitely recommend a visit.…

A visit to Riebeek-Kasteel led us to the Kloovenburg Wine and Olive Estate. The atmosphere was warm and inviting as were the hosts, including a friendly greeting from one of the du Toit brothers. This Estate has been owned by generations of the du Toit family of past and present (and likely future) rugby fame. This added a special touch and we were able to pause and engage with the main task at hand which was enjoying the wine and yummy choice of olives and condiments to taste. I left with a bottle of sweet black olives (my choice) and a liter of delectable olive oil which I later drizzled over hot Ciabatta bread. Everyone tasting it said it was the best! Let’s not forget the wine, the Chardonnay and Merlot cultivars were my particular choice of this Estate. The wines are generally rated highly. A very worthwhile visit to the eclectic little town and the pearl called Kloovenburg. For anyone prepared to drive a little further its definitely worth a trip for those keen for something unique and different rather than focusing only on the traditional wine farm outings to Paarl and Stellenbosch.…
