Small museum between Pompeii and Herculaneum in a relatively built up area, but with some absolutely incredible artifacts from the eruption. The jewelry is simply stunning, with such intricate detail, you would wonder how they could see to make them. Some of the pieces have actually got magnifying lenses set up so you can appreciate the detail…

A small but good museum, showing real life in Pompeii etc., helpful staff. Also had an exhibition on an iron age settlement recently found. The farm house next door was closed, but the vines were planted in exactly the same place they were on the day.

The first thing I will say about this place is why is it in this location. Located in a run down and litter strewn area and a few stops on the train from Pompeii it would have been far better to have built it nearer to the ruins. This may explain why on the morning I visited I was the only person there!!! I had been advised to visit after a visit to Villa Oplonti and was included in my 7 euros ticket price. What a little gem. There are some wonderful artefacts from Pompeii including a stunning statue, a bronze bust of Nero and a cast dog and pig in their death throes. There is also a small but beautiful mosaic floor. I have included some photos. When I came to leave they asked me if I would sign there visitors book. It was 1pm and I was the first one to sign that day. Interesting place but so badly sighted. There is a small Roman villa next door but it was closed.…

My group of British adults were bowled over by this museum. It is small but has so many interesting small finds from Pompeii. It is of special interest to social historians because of the nature of its contents. The staff are first rate. Helpful and knowledgeable. Because my group were obviously interested we were allowed to view some of the finds in the upstairs area of the museum. This did not seem to be open to the public. A member of staff with good English explained the history of the artefacts and we saw some fascinating things including a reconstructed strong box from Pompeii which was incredible. We all found this visit to be one of the most interesting during our visit to Naples area. There are clean toilets and a coffee machine on site which is always a bonus. Make time to visit this small museum before you visit Pompeii. It really brings to life the city before Vesuvius erupted . Congratulations on a nice museum and superb staff.…

We travelled by local train from Sorrento to Villa Regis one stop past Pompeii, the Naples express doesn't stop here, it was a 10 minute stroll from the station and well signposted. Unfortunately the area near the museum is a mess of litter and bins overflowing with rubbish which is a shame but worth ignoring to view the interesting pieces on display in this modern museum, a real snapshot of life in Pompeii and Herculaneum.artworks, pottery, mosaics and personal items. Not all the displays have English descriptions which is a shame me but my translation app was helpful in understanding some of it.…
