The Cradle of Humankind was a good day trip however I would only do the cave if your really into caves. There are much better caves to experience then here. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable and let us explore areas we wish to learn...More

If you are into all that nature has to offer and hope to learn something new for each member of the family this would definitely be worth your while. The children can enjoy a boat ride through the ice age and learn about the creation...More

We are very interested in archeology and have traveled to many sights in numerous counties. We were familiar with hominid finds on the African continent but not the incredibly rich finds at the Sterkfontein caves a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Over 600 hominid remains have...More

A really quite contemplative day out. wide open spaces to picnic and kids to run free. Thought provoking ideas and sense of belong to something bigger as we are still evolving.

Had a day in Johannesburg after our safari and before our redeye flight. Chose to spend it at the cradle of humankind museum and caves. Very happy with our decision. It was a great place to spend several hours. The exhibits are very well done.

We traveled from Pretoria to this location. It is out in the country. We arrived to find the ticket booth open and a significant discount for seniors. The tour began in a museum style room whereby the visitor can read all about the origin of...More

We visited on a Friday afternoon and really enjoyed the hike through the caves. 6’4” tall, certainly made for some interesting passage walks, but it was worth the trip. We decided not to take the guided tour through the museum and took a walk. Cut...More

I would agree with the earlier answer. Our visit to view the exhibition and the caves took between 3 and 4 hours.
