I found it hard to walk up as there is a lot of steps, I would still recommend a visit just for the amazing views. Very peaceful.

One August day we decided to visit Penshaw Monument. We walked up to the summit which was quite a trek up, however worth it when you got up for the views. Good views of the north east, horses, cows etc

On your way up the A1 Just before Chester Le Street look right and it stands on the hill top. My sign that I'm nearly home. Home of the famous(around here)Penshaw Worm.

Bit of a climb to the top even via the steps but worth the effort as the view from the monument is great even on a day when the sunshine refuses to shine. Limited parking.

Can take a bit to get to the top of the hill, but it is worth all the effort, the Views are great. Time it right and the stairs may be open to walk the top of the Monument.

A very short walk to the top of this monument and you get fantastic views. It is great for taking photos and you can walk on the top of the monument (National trust).
