Strange to believe that this store was recommended by a youngster. We had to stop with only minutes before the store closing time. Lots to see and buy and well priced. Bought a fairly large ornament although this would pose a small packing problem with fly with. The stuff bubble wrapped the ornaments well. Definitely worth the recommendation

Decorative items, old furniture, knobs and handles, clothes, scarfs, jewellery, toys etc. I bought a beautiful yellow cream 6 seater tablecloth and decorative knobs for very affordable price.

The variety of goods for sale is extensive and there are some good bargain buys among all the merchandise, but one b=needs to be careful. Not all is local, and some imported from the East, and some very poor quality. But a discerning browser would enjoy spending some time here and pick up a bargain or two.

This shop is not easily missed. Brightly painted building holding a lot of varied curios, clothing, collectibles and furniture. Definitely worth a stop.

There are a number of these shops are around in the Midlands. All stock similar items but many are fun curios. Often a sale if some items so bargains can be had. The solid recycled wood furniture is amazing. We would take it back to the UK if we could. Helpful staff and not pushy at all which is good to see. Take the R103 old road and stop off at an Ugly Duckling. You never know what you might find!!

I have just got back from a mid-week stay at Gwahumbe Reserve south of Pietermaritzburg - it was an incredible time away. As the car emerged from the sugar cane after an easy drive on tar almost all the way (with plenty of sign boards to back up the clear directions on their website), I gasped out "oh my WORD" at the breathtaking plunging gorge on the right. A giraffe munched on a tree top and watched me, and as we arrived at reception, there was a group of zebras grazing on the lawn, just metres away - what a great start! This 700 ha reserve is set within a 3000 ha conservancy and is packed full of game that is so relaxed we were able to get close to even the shy nyala, plus impala, zebra giraffe and wildebeest - all with babies - and learned so much, thanks to our informative expert guide Charl. The afternoon massage at the spa was a trip to heaven - thanks Kelly! Our meals were excellent - don't miss out on the desserts! The staff were all very gracious and helpful, especially the GM Derek Grose. If you need an amazing getaway that's easy to get to and close to PMB and Durban, this is the place. It's ideal for smaller weddings, and there's a bush camp on the river where kids can learn to be 'mini rangers' - they'll love it! There's also a bookclub package to keep in mind. The lodge can sleep about 30-40 people in rooms and chalets with great views across the valleys so there's a lovely sense of intimacy - no 'sausage factory' feel. I found it difficult to leave!

We visiting this store while doing the Midlands Meander, there is such interesting to buy. They have something that will interest anyone irrespective of your age. They have affordable items, but also some expensive ones. It is worth it to take your time when visiting the shop, you will see something that you like. The products of the store, however, is not the typical products one would find in the city, it has a kind of arty element attached to it. You do get great curios at the Ugly duckling, with a wide variety to choose from.
