We visited the castle as part of a 6 hour walking tour of Soriano nel Cimino organised by our hotel. The reason that I mentioned "well worth a guided tour" is that our guide was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic that we learned so much more...More

Although temps were high we chose to ascend the pathway up to the castle and explore it's interior, having had a number of identities in previous years. Entrance is 5 Euros for an adult and there are a number of exhibits to enjoy inc a...More

This is an absolute highlight! You can see this impressive structure as you approach Soriano and it symbolic of the town as a whole. Yes it is small and there is nothing fancy about any part of it, but I loved every minute I spent...More

The best part of our visit was the conversation with the two gentlemen who were at the entrance and exit. They gave us a very colourful but brief history of the place and the people who lived there. Really quite amazing. Sadly the castle was...More

Very nice visit for a Sunday afternoon. Our guide was Vallerio and he made it special due to his wealth of knowledge of history and passion for speaking about it. I expected more indoor rooms but it was primarily an armory, jail cells and a...More

My visit here was fun, enjoyable and great for my fitness. It was a nice way to get introduce to the town of Soriano. The only not so cool part, other than the heat, was climbing the hills, whew!.

Atop a hill overlooking Soriano nel Cimini is the medieval castle Castello Orsini-interesting history dating back to 1278. All displays are in Italian with no English translation. A few rooms with artifacts with little explanation. Amazing views!
