Quiet old center!
Jul 2021
We arrived here after climbing the Mont Ventoux! The old town is small, but quiet and beautiful. The road down from the mountain to the village is very well maintained.

Nice mini break
Oct 2018
Lovely little town close to Mount Ventoux with lots of restaurants and cafes to while away the time. The old part of the town is lovely with tall townhouses lining narrow streets and the view from Calvaire (in the middle of the old own) is stunning.

Step back in time

Interesting history at every turn. Collect a guide from nearby tourist office to get the most out of your visit. This can easily be combined with the next nearest town, which is visible set atop a hillside.to fill your day. Small shops for interest and places for coffee and lunch available .

What a contrast to the “main drag”!!

If you just drive through Malaucene you will probably be turned off by the hordes of lycra-clad cyclists at every cafe and the many cycle shops which seem to dominate the town. But, if you do as we did, you may think differently. We parked in the quiet and shady car park behind the church where we ate our home made sandwiches, made use of the WC publique (un peu sale!) then meandered through the little alleys of the old town. There are 2 fountains but nothing else in particular to see but the wandering is very pleasant. After an hour or so we emerged into lycra-land where we sat at a cafe and had some coffee whilst marvelling at the multitudes who want to punish their bodies in the extreme heat!

We have been visiting this town for many years now and enjoy it more and more each time we visit. It is perfectly located to see the sights of the area. The atmosphere and environment of the town is wonderful and relaxed (outside of crazy Sundays of course!). Locals are pleasant and welcoming, I would recommend staying inside the old centre if possible as you can park up and forget your car.

Malaucene
Oct 2017
We have been here for more than a week. It was surprising how much Malaucene offer. It's a town living all year round.
Prof biking shops, 3-4, because people come here to enter Mont Ventoux, but the area is full of great biking routes, mostly along the wine routes, not bad and extremely beautiful... fall colors all over❤️
For food shopping, you have what you need, but it's in the top quality. Bakers are good and you have a Super U Express, where you can get most.... they even have there ovn butcher😎

Hidden history

VIsit the office du tourisme and ask for the tour description. You will get a A4 explaining directions and some stories.
Don't think that you have seen Malaucene when passing the main road where the restaurants are. Go behind the them and discover the medial town with its narrow streets and multiple water fountains. The Calvaire offers a 360 degree view of Malaucene. Worth a visit!

A short climb to a great view!
Sep 2016 • Couples
Take time to step out of the main drag of cafés and restaurants, to climb to the Site Panoramique in Malaucène old town. Well sign posted from the town centre.
