Enjoy views from the outside, not worth admission to enter
Jul 2020
It's cool to see, but it's ultimately just a shell of a castle. We paid 10 euros to go inside but, honestly, I wouldn't recommend it. There are so few areas visitors actually have access to that you're better off skipping admission and taking in the views from the outside.

Best castle ever!
Sep 2019 • Family
Atmospheric, fascinating, dramatic. For a very small fee we got subterranean chapel with curved walls that follow the rock formations, great halls with amazing views, drawbridge remains, a beautiful restored spiral staircase. And two wonderfully bizarre plaster and wood props from '70s and 80's movies filmed here - a sarcophagus and a great fireplace! Brill printed guides and keen single member of staff. Yes, the restoration is ongoing, but that is very much part of the charm. Why would I want a pristine reproduction of a dramatic ruin?

An impressive building crowning the village.
Sep 2019
As you approach Le Barroux and see the hilltop village, the Chateau crowns it perfectly and makes the whole thing very photogenic.

The village itself is a sleepy place and a delight to stroll slowly around; and a walk up to the castle provides fabulous views of the surrounding countryside.

A new ‘ancien château’
Aug 2019 • Friends
The views from the chateau de Barroux are spectacular, it’s nearly worth going there just to take a picture. The place itself is being restored slowly, and a fine job is being done to it. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. So much history here. The guide book supplied is quite informative and the admission fee is reasonable.
It’s a bit curious, though, that there is no mention of the occupation of the chateau by the nazis during WWll.
Commercial detente, I suppose.
There was a Harley Davidson in the chapel!
And we had a very refreshing drink dans la Maison d’Eugene nearby.
Parking is easy as long as you stay away from the streets of the town

Beautiful little castle
Jun 2019
In the small village of Le Barroux lays a small castle. An interesting point to get beautiful panoramic views of the region where you can also observe the almighty Mont Ventoux.

Work in progress
Jul 2018 • Family
The castle is being restored slowly but surely. It's definately a work in progress. It's charming in its own way, but for now mainly outer walls with a few rooms coming along.

We had a lovely time at this Chateau. We were given a guide to carry around and the information was very interesting. The views from the building were beautiful.

A restored old chateau
Aug 2017 • Family
This chateau has been extensively restored and the extent of the restoration is itself of interest. There was a medieval festival taking place when we visited and parking was difficult. There is a car park, but it was full as were most of the surrounding roads. The chateau has an exhibition of modern paintings which are for sale. Entry to the chateau was 5€ for adults.

Well worth a visit to see this chateau perched on top of the hill.
Jul 2017 • Couples
At only 5 Euros this chateau is well worth visiting. Its sad story of how many times it has been destroyed and the work that has been done to restore it is amazing and well worth supporting. There is a good description of the rooms in different languages and although the rooms are empty it is still possible to imagine what it was like and what it could be like again.

Beatifully restored chateau
Sep 2016 • Couples
Attractive little chateau which was restored (at least according to the signs) largely with private money - of course, it's really the view you want - as once you've seen one pile of rocks...
