My husband and I enjoyed stopping in to see these ruins and as far as I could tell, were the only ones presently available on the island of Santorini. Watching the video helped us piece the site together, and what an ancient home would look...More

It was nice to walk around inside, the heat of the day would have made our venture quicker but this way we could take our time. Best part was that you could walk through the site on specific pathways but get really close to it...More

While in Greece, we visited many archaeological sites. This was one of my favorites! It is covered from the elements to help preserve it and many of the items that were uncovered have been left as they were found. I would recommend a guided tour,...More

Many tourists go to Santorini for the sunsets, the shopping, and the views. The island has all of this. But Akrotiri--a Minoan city that was buried in a volcanic eruption (like Pompei) around 1600 BC is a special experience. Well-preserved, but only partially excavated) Akrotiri...More

Fascinating active archaeological site of Minoan culture, once dominating this area of the Mediterranean Sea even before the Greeks, but lost to the eruption around 1600 B.C. Some might link it to the myth of Atlantis. With reserved buildings up to 3 storages, sewering and...More

Fascinating tour! It was mindboggling to take in the advanced civilization that existed in the Bronze Age such as plumbing, apartments, and pottery. Akrotiri is a city that appears to have been evacuated just prior to the volcanic eruption of Thera and the timing coincides...More
