A pleasant hour learning a little about hydras cultural history. There is not a ton to see but enough to make it worth the trek to get w glimpse inside a real hydran house from the top of the islands economic period. The folk costumes...More

Me and my husband visited Hudra for a wedding in June. The Island is by far the most magical island ever. The museum is well preserved & clean. It shows the brief history of the Island and also has a magnificent view. You will find...More

Gives a feeling of the life of the powerful merchant and politician who built the place. Wide range of celebration costumes from across the region. Maybe a little too focused on things rather than events so feels a bit dry

We were encouraged to visit this mansion by Hilda, the Phaedra Hotel proprietor. We were so taken aback by the elegance of the mansion, the impressive collections and the shear beauty of the view of this magical town.

The only way to get around in Hydra (pronounced EE-drah) is by foot, donkey, or horse, which is part of what makes this island so quaint. Because of Hydra's merchant-marine prosperity, there are many mansions on Hydra, but the Koundouriotis Mansion is the only one...More

The exhibits were wonderful especially the costumes. The walk can be taxing in the heat but pace yourself and take your time. A bottle of water is essential during summer. The views from the balcony were beautiful of the town.

Firstly, Hydra is a spectacular, amazing island. The museum is 100 steps up from the port, with great views and portrays the incredible history of Hydra. Home to Leonard Cohen and known as the island with no cars, the museum shows how the locals lived...More

This museum was in a well kept building overlooking the harbour. The views were fantastic if you climbed very high on this island. There are no cars here and the main mode of transport is by donkey or horse. All of the tourist attractions are...More

This is a lovely small mansion with an interesting history. The artists that had work featured were equally as interesting as the building and the furniture inside. If you are "senior" there are lower entry fees. Well worth your time. It's a significant climb to...More

It is Lazaros Koundouriotis house! I am not sure if all the things that there are in the museum were Koundouriotis belongings...Anyway the view from there is wonderful!

Hi there, it took us about 8 minutes from the port to Antonio's sandwich bar up some quite steep steps. You can go a longer way with less steps but you will always have to climb some steps.
