Panthera Africa - Big Cat Sanctuary Panthera Africa (opened April 2015) offers the unique opportunity to learn about the big cats and hear their heartfelt stories! The sanctuary is run by two young ladies who have devoted their lives for these animals, and the passion and love is felt on the educational visits! We educate visitors on the big cats, the threats facing each species today and what can be done to create change for these majestic beings. We are a true sanctuary with no trading, breeding or public interaction, operating as a safe haven for ambassador and rescued cats. We offer different types of visits: 1. EDUCATIONAL VISIT Have a guided walk around to see our white and brown lions, black leopard, caracals and tigers and learn more about our ambassador animals, their species and their threats. Tour times: Everyday expect Tuesdays, 10am and 3pm (April - September) 9am and 4pm October - March); open on public holidays Price: 240 ZAR per adult / 150 ZAR per child under 13 years PRE-BOOKINGS ONLY (as we only have a limited amount of spots per visit) 2. ENRICHMENT VISIT - SOON OPENING We strongly believe in different daily enrichment activities for our big cats to ensure the best captive life possible. Our certified enrichment program can include feeding enrichment, sensory enrichment, physical enrichment and environmental enrichment. Price: 350 ZAR per adult, no children under 16 years allowed. PRE-BOOKINGS ONLY (at least 1 week in advance) 3. TEAMBUILDING Our slogan 'In unity there is strength' is the core definition of any team. Our teambuilding events will take everyone out of their comfort zone, strengthen your team and inspire creativity! We offer the unique opportunity to be involved in our hands-on enrichment program. You will be forced to think outside the box and your ability to work together will directly affect the outcome! We guarantee you huge satisfaction in seeing your product being tested in action! Price: depends on amount of people and equipment provided. PRE-BOOKINGS ONLY

Our guide was very knowledgeable and knew all the cats personally. She was happy to answer any questions. The cats all have their own story and are looked after in excellent enclosures. A great place to visit.

Panthera Africa is well worth a visit. The guide was very informative. The cats were obviously well looked after in fairly big enclosures. Great to know that they had been rescued and given a good life.

Could not recommend this more! It is one of only a handful of true wildlife sanctuaries that don't breed or use their animals as game when they grow up. They tell the powerful animals of the stories and are so interesting. Lindsey was our guide...More

Whilst this sanctuary supports a noble cause, and the cats are gorgeous and well cared for in expansive enclosures (if there can be such a thing for wild felines?), the entrance cost makes it a once-off as you'll end up paying close to R1000 for...More

Possibly... if you have people to help you through the entrance hut (steps). The pathways are not paved.
