Panthera Africa - Big Cat Sanctuary Panthera Africa (opened April 2015) offers the unique opportunity to learn about the big cats and hear their heartfelt stories! The sanctuary is run by two young ladies who have devoted their lives for these animals, and the passion and love is felt on the educational visits! We educate visitors on the big cats, the threats facing each species today and what can be done to create change for these majestic beings. We are a true sanctuary with no trading, breeding or public interaction, operating as a safe haven for ambassador and rescued cats. We offer different types of visits: 1. EDUCATIONAL VISIT Have a guided walk around to see our white and brown lions, black leopard, caracals and tigers and learn more about our ambassador animals, their species and their threats. Tour times: Everyday expect Tuesdays, 10am and 3pm (April - September) 9am and 4pm October - March); open on public holidays Price: 240 ZAR per adult / 150 ZAR per child under 13 years PRE-BOOKINGS ONLY (as we only have a limited amount of spots per visit) 2. ENRICHMENT VISIT - SOON OPENING We strongly believe in different daily enrichment activities for our big cats to ensure the best captive life possible. Our certified enrichment program can include feeding enrichment, sensory enrichment, physical enrichment and environmental enrichment. Price: 350 ZAR per adult, no children under 16 years allowed. PRE-BOOKINGS ONLY (at least 1 week in advance) 3. TEAMBUILDING Our slogan 'In unity there is strength' is the core definition of any team. Our teambuilding events will take everyone out of their comfort zone, strengthen your team and inspire creativity! We offer the unique opportunity to be involved in our hands-on enrichment program. You will be forced to think outside the box and your ability to work together will directly affect the outcome! We guarantee you huge satisfaction in seeing your product being tested in action! Price: depends on amount of people and equipment provided. PRE-BOOKINGS ONLY

Very informative. It was a very hot morning. Unfortunately not all cats came out when they were called. About 4 cages we did not see. I would suggest you'd rather go at feeding time, late afternoon. These people are doing an excellent job of looking...More

This sanctuary, one of only seven in South Africa, provides a nurturing and safe home for lions, leopards, tigers and other cats that have been mistreated elsewhere by breeders and game reserves. The informative and inspiring tour today by Abby was outstanding (and a special...More

Martin was very informative and engaged the children / teenagers and Adults with the insightful accounts of each Big Cat's rescue. We would certainly return to visit the new big cat family. Well done for all your hard work Panthera staff and volunteers.

A really great trip with knowledgeable guides and highlights how the public are being duped by the many other so called sanctuaries! You will never want to go to a big cat "petting" sanctuary again once you hear about the cruel practices that are hiding...More
