About
Overlooking the spectacular Riviersonderend mountain range, just eight km from Greyton, Swallow Hill offers a unique wine tasting experience. On the stoep or in the courtyard you will taste Tempranillo and Viognier based wines from vines grown in their single vineyard. A platter of tapas is served to compliment the wines. At Swallow Hill the wines follow the vines.

Amazing experience at this tiny boutique wine farm. I highly recommend that you call ahead of visiting as opening hours can vary. The winery is literally below the house so expect a very personal experience, opposite to your typical commercial wine farm. All the wines are free from animal products commonly used when filtering wine and a portion of the proceeds from each bottle is donated to the Greyton Farm Animal Sanctuary so getting tipsy whilst supporting a good cause is a huge bonus.

Located just a few kilometres outside Greyton on the Krige road, Brian and Di Dawes are making great tapas to go with their range of Swallow Hill wines. I loved the Temperanillo and the Viognier varietals and the varied tapas is such a bonus. This is an amateur cook that really delivers and the tapas complements the range of wines. Swallow Hill is set on the hillside with stunning views of the Riversonderend Mountains. Always best to book direct or make appointment via the Tourism in Greyton.

According to their website they open at 10.30am but when we arrived along a dusty country road we found the place deserted with no signage or sign of life. Oh well...

We booked and ha a great intimate tasting with the owner for 5 adults and a todler. Tapas was huge and wine tasty. Busy for a Saturday with other kids and families. Good value for money at R95pp compared to Stellenbosch wineries that will charge R150 or more for food and wine tasting. Can recommend. Loved their Viognier!
