First let me point out that the dirt/gravel road to get to the waterfall was not the best. It was riddled with those baby potholes all over, so it was slow going. Once we got there, it was worth the effort. Definitely walk down the...More

We continued our backtrack to Kolugljúfur Canyon, a gorge in the river Víðidalsá. We had the place entirely to ourselves.

The main attraction here is Kolugljufur, but keep walking through the gate and up the trail... It leads to many more beautiful sites!

Worth the drive off the main road. Drive ok with 2WD. Beautiful falls running through a canyon. Barely anyone else there.

Beautiful multi-tiered waterfall and canyon views. A bit dangerous as there are many cliffs and no guardrails.

The small canyon with the waterfall is just a few kilometres off the Ring Road on an unpaved road. The falls are not so spectacular as the big ones, but together with the canyon it makes for an great sight. You have excellent views of...More
