Ok but not a must see
Namibia is a beautiful country with lots of spectacular scenery and wildlife to see. This stop was not one of those instances though. It was a pleasant enough 20mins to go to the top and walk down to the bottom but not a must see. When something is called a canyon you expect more of a...well canyon! The gap was very narrow and nothing like the picture I had in my mind. More a rocky crack that opens out a bit down below. Call me a philistine for not appreciating the rock layers but it didn't mean much to me.

    Non-Strenuous Hike
While exploring the Sossusvlei area I visited the Sesriem Canyon and can definitely say it is a must-see attraction. It's only a short drive from the Sesriem gate, via a gravel road that's a bit rough but passable if you take it slow. There's plenty of parking available at the canyon, but be on the lookout for baboons and I recommend you don't leave any food in your car that they can see. The canyon itself is beautiful with towering walls surrounding you and providing a nice reprieve from the heat of the desert. Getting down to the canyon floor is short and not too strenuous and at the bottom you will mostly be walking on river sand so make sure you have comfortable shoes on. I really enjoyed visiting the Sesriem Canyon and, because of it's unique beauty, you have ample photo opportunities to remember the experience by.

Nice to go when in the park anyway
Not the greatest for sure. But when in the park then it is nice to finish the day with this. Do not only go down but also walk along the edge. Be careful though as you need to make sure not to fall. The walls are high and some rocks might be loose

Fantastic walk. Be careful in the heat
This is a fantastic geological excursion and is extremely interesting. Note that you should be prepared especially if it is hot. Do not go unprepared. ensure you have drinks and comfortable shoes. CAUTION!!! This canyon can flood and if it does it is a flash flood and you can get trapped. This will happen when there has been rain in the Khomas Highlands. Babbons can be present and if they are you may find them climbing on your car in the car park. Do not approach them!

Located quite close to the park entrance. There is decent walk through the canyon which is mostly flat but on undulating ground, a few short climbs. We followed a recommendation to do this walk in the late afternoon.

Such a great find - we visited the site in a day so towards the end we decided, despite the fatigue, to visit the canyon and was pleasantly surprised! Being further down in the shaded area was great as a respite to the heat, and it was an easy walk down - there was still some degree of mini climbing but do-able.

Had a brief stop here on our tour but nobody was interested in walking down to the bottom of the canyon. I think we were all expecting something a little more impressive. OK for a quick 10 minute peek.

Absolutely worth seeing when visiting the Dunes. It is located 4.5 km from entrance gate. Easy walkable. The best area to go down into the Canyon is right by the parking area.

we were there in the dry season. only one small puddle below parking lot was left. nice and cool there to. it's a good place to visit, to observe the formations and soil layers water makes. we also walked to the west side, ca. 3 km deep, where canyon spreads up. i'd recommend if you want to intake different landscapes a river makes while looking for best path.
