It was a grey, windy day , so expectations were low for our lagoon cruise.
However the crew were so genuinely enthusiastic and fun that we could not fail to enjoy our day. Snorkelling was good - in spite of the swell- with many different fish to view, and many of these appeared under the boat, to be viewed by everyone via the glass bottom.
Lunch on the island was a well- planned and efficiently presented barbecue, with fresh salads and fruit, plus plenty of chicken, sausages, bbq’d bananas.
But the highlight was the drumming, ukulele playing, and singing all led by the crew members, from the minute we climbed aboard, throughout lunch, then all the way back to shore. The Coconut Show was also excellent- lots of fun and laughter.
Really worth every $ and I would recommend it before you book other tours eg cultural shows, as you will experience a lot just on this cruise. Kia Orana and Meitaki to the Kuka crew and staff.

We had a great time for the entire duration: the crew are multi-talented and kept us entertained with fun songs, clever ukulele playing and excellent drumming. The food was really nice with plenty of variety to suit everyone. And the coconut show was a hoot! The crew were very friendly and helpful, with never a dull moment. I would highly recommend this tour. Not only was it fun and well organised, it was informative too! Well worth the time.

This was a 10/10 experience and so worth it! I would pay double for what we got. Not only did the tour guides keep the energy throughout the day, they let us know the itinerary of the day and we’re constantly letting us know what was happening next etc!
We learnt about how to care for the reef and about the islands and their importance to the indigenous people.
We snorkelled and they were great with kids as well! We then went to a beach and enjoyed a cultural performance and watched them climb coconut trees and learnt how to open one too! We also had the most AMAZING Kai!
Legit would go again purely for the feed. It was my best meal I had on the island.
All in all - highly recommend. Worth it!!! We went in august and saw some whales at that time of year also.
Thank you Koka Lagoon! We’ll be back for sure.

From first arrival at departure, the mood was so positive! Staff engaging with the guests and music being made to welcome us all. Three boats were to take us on this experience!
Snorkelling, lunching, and being entertained filled the time without feeling “at a loose end”! Non-stop entertainment and activity.
Safety of all guests, whilst snorkelling, was uppermost in the minds of the crews, yet not overpowering. Done admirably!
Each crew member was a captain, caterer, comedian and musician… and you know what? They all love what they do …. it was obvious!!! These guys were truly amazing! The boss of this outfit should be really, really proud of his/her team …. they really made this whole experience!
If you do nothing else whilst on Rarotonga …. do this! Value for money is unquestionable and,as seasoned travellers, I suggest that this is “one of the best”!
Well done! Keep doing it!!

We were undecided if visiting Muri lagoon by ourselves with kayak or join a lagoon cruise. There are a couple of companies that offer lagoon cruise with snorkeling and lunch on a motu (same price, same show). At the end we decided for Koka Lagoon, because they leave early at 10am. We were happy with the cruise and the staff was very professional and funny. If you're not a party people or you are a reserved and shy person, you can just relax on the beach after lunch, while the Koka guys conduct their beautiful show. A well worth half day tour to explore the beautiful Muri Lagoon.

We took a Koka Lagoon Cruise on a friend’s recommendation and are so glad we did. We had such a fun day exploring the beauty of lagoon and Cook Island culture. The guides are awesome and the way they care for the conservation of the lagoon is really special to see. What we enjoyed most was listening to them jamming the ukulele and drums. Left feeling uplifted with big smiles. Meitaki ma’ata Koka Cruises!

I absolutely recommend Koka Lagoon Cruise as a must do while in Rarotonga 🤩 Thank you to all the boys on both boats for making our day so special. We are a family of 7 with kids ranging from 4yrs-17. All of them loved swimming with the fish, especially the little ones. Lifetime memories created & the boys on the boat were so helpful with everyone. Music played by the boys from start to finish, gives tourists the ultimate island experience with entertainment & food.
Thank you to all the boys at Koka for our amazing day 🤩🥰

I have been to Raro before and have done a lagoon cruise so wouldn't have done again, except I had my neice with me and the experiences is something all kids going to Raro should experience. The resort staff recommended Koka Cruise.
Linlee had a wonderful time. She wass filled with lots of questions. The staff were outstanding and Linlee has come back giving all the family so much information, she especially liked telling the story of the guy climbing the coconut tree and staying he was going to swing across to the other tree. She even had the "Are you crazy?" in the same tone of voice. She loved sitting up with the drummers in the sing along coming back.
Thanks for make it such a lovely day.

What an awesome experience! We took a group of 54 (10 adults and 44 12/13 year olds) as part of a school trip to the Cook Islands! From the minute we arrived the we could hear the drums and singing and it didn't stop all day! The crew were awesome and so talented! the water was beautiful with a abundance of sea life (the highlight was the moray eel and one of the crew patting its stomach). We probably ended up being in the water for about 45-1hr, which was a perfect amount of time for the kids. Then back to a beautiful island for a bbq lunch and afternoon of entertainment. A real highlight of our entire trip with lots of laughs and fun!!! The crew really are the stars!

Are you allowed to drink alcohol on the cruise?
Written 2 December 2019
Probably, but you would BYO, however the Koka team are so good at entertaining you, there is little time to drink. So much fun, such good entertainment

Is the boat wheelchair accessible?
Written 30 March 2018
Yes - but the boat does not have a wheel chair ramp - we were on a trip where there was a person in a wheel chair and the Koka guys carried him and his wheel chair on board. But just a reminder that on the island where the food and coconut show is on it is not wheel chair friendly (all sand and no concrete foot paths)

We are a party of four and will be in Rarotonga on February 7th aboard the Maasdam. One of us uses a walker but can navigate a short flight of stairs. Would there be space for his walker on the boat and could we be picked up and returned to where we tender in? Thanks!
Written 9 December 2017
As said, the staff are amazing and would do all they could to help; chair lift you across the sand and into the boat probably! The whole experience is great but the loos will be an issue with a walker, they're through a sandy path on the island where lunch is held. Having said that though, if you have the slightest mobility without the walker the day will be worth the effort!

My husband and I are keen to do the glass bottom boat tour when there end of May this year. I travel in a wheelchair with limited mobility (able to take assisted small steps) so am concerned about whether I'll be I'll be able to get on and off the boat.
Please advise what access is like to get onto the boat to start as well as getting off and on at the beach
Thank you

The boat we traveled in was not wheel chair accessible. To access the boat you traverse sand, wade through the water about 10-15 feet, and step up stairs. It is the same in reverse to get off the boat to go on the island for meal and activities. The island is definitely not wheelchair accessible. They would have to make modifications to the boat to get a wheelchair on board.
