This is a fascinating place. Well worth the steep and winding drive up, the walking to the cave, and the hundreds of steps once you're inside it. Do take gloves because, not surprisingly, you can get veeeeery coooold!

We didn't quite know what to expect but this was a trip worth making. The trek up to the cable car was about 20 minutes on a gravel path and the trek up to the cave itself was a lot more intense but do able...More

It's a good visit and definitely worth the walk. I have night blindness was worried going into the cave with steps but i find it not too bad as there is sufficient oil lamp. Visibilty is alright. We reached the ticket centre at 11am. Slowly...More

I went there with my 46 years old mom and my 20 years old sister and we had the best experience, don’t miss it out! Few things to take in consideration: 1. There is a 20 minutes walk up to the cable car, than another...More

I visited here with my son and would thoroughly recommend. The trip up to the cave involves 2 fairly strenuous uphill walks, but there are plenty of opportunities to rest and enjoy the view. The steps inside are quite hard work also, so make sure...More

A reasonably long uphill walk that is at a reasonable angle to the cable car ride which gives fantastic views. After the cable car ride there is another 20-30 min walk uphill to the cave entrance. Again a reasonable angle. The actual ice caves are...More

This is definitely so much better than the one in Dachstein. I wasn't sure if I should do this one also since I would be going to the Dachstein one and I'm so glad I did. This experience was so authentic, the ice structures inside...More

Initially I was hesitant to walk up that far for almost more than 4 hours or so to explore a cave. I was told that inside the cave it will be temperature as low as 0°c or below. And weather can ruin the views and...More

This was the first ice cave we have visited and we absolutely loved it! It really is narnia esque! The staff make the tour really interesting and are funny too. You cant take photos yourself but you can buy post cards in the shop afterwards....More

We had an awesome day and were surprised how interesting and fun it was. That said, this is not a excursion for everyone. You need to be in pretty good shape to walk up the hillside, then take a tram, and walk up a mountain...More

Hi Corinne. The ice cave is closed in October because there is too much snow. Are you planning on being in Austria for the holidays? Great skiing and beautiful scenery.
