With the train from Perpignan suspended (it has been for nearly a year at the time of writing and no prospect of it reopening) we had to get a bus up to Villefranche to catch the Le Train Jaune. We used the Train to get...More

As part of our Newmarket holiday we went on this train. We had a carriage reserved for us so no overcrowding. The views were spectacular as we climbed to the (almost) highest station in France. The coach couldn't get to the highest station. The citadel...More

Fantastic scenic trip with at nice little train that runs through the Pyrenees. Consider though, that they put In as many people as possible and a little more. Seems like the SNCF is not aware of Big parties simly clocking the train. What could have...More

We were able to secure tickets online. There were people arriving at the station and buying their tickets. I am not so sure I would take the chance as we have missed out by not booking certain activities. Best to get there early and line...More

Worth getting there early to secure tickets and also get in the queue for the train. We caught the first train up to Mont Louis which was probably long enough - other reviewers state about being in the open top carriage being the best for...More

Lovely way to travel, over many viaducts. Travelled in a cattle car, no roof. Actually travelling through the scenery, gradually climbing higher, not just looking at it! Unable to get tickets online so arrived at the ticket office early. If travelling with other people, my...More

If you can,go for the open carriage. Views are spectacular in places. Whole route takes some 3and a half hours each way so a worthwhile full day out. Refreshments available at the end of the line, Latour Enjoyable experience.

It's very busy in the summer so advise you to be there at least an hour before departure to guarantee a seat. We got the 9.58 train. The journey to Mont-Louis was fantastic as we were in one of the open carriages. The scenery is...More

110 years ago the yellow train was one of the first electric railways in the world. The current modern rolling stock has a delicious retro feel- particularly the open car- and the journey (in our case to the border fortress of Mont Louis) climbs nearly...More

Nice historical train trip in France. Train goes slow but views are worth of travel. Bridges, villages tunnels and countryside.

Yes you can get off the train on the way but there is nothing much to see. I would suggest that you get off at Mont Loius. I would check the website for the return train times as they are infrequent in the afternoon.
