It is a good castle to visit although there isn’t so much left just the outer walls. Do take the audio guide as this, as usual, makes the visit understandable. The grounds surrounding are very beautiful so are worth a walk if you can spare...More

Enjoyed the castle ruins and grounds. There were 2 well advertised tours which took place during our visit, but it would have been nice to have been told that there were audio tours available. It was a beautiful day to visit consequently we spent more...More

We visited with our dogs and found it very dog friendly. We weren’t aware that the audio tour was included in the price of entry, which at £9.50 was a bit steep - thinking it was extra we declined it, which was probably a mistake....More

This is one of those places where it's best to take your time. Wander in the grounds as well as inside the castle. Look out for all the little—and not so little—details of architecture, and make the most of the views all around. The cafe...More

It's pricey for what is there, but that's English Heritage for you. However that said I am willing to pay because it goes to the upkeep of our historic buildings.

Took my 11 year old daughter and partner to the castle on their medieval fair day. My daughter was most interested in the fact it's the castle from Ed Sheeran's tune 'Castle on the Hill' but she liked putting the tin bucket helmet on her...More

Great place to visit - with or without kids. Plenty of parking at the site, which is free to members. Beautiful castle which you can admire from the outside on a walk around it's perimeter and mere. Made a good job of interior with some...More

We get free entry with our Barclays account, otherwise you have to pay entrance fee to get to the cafe. Good value food and snacks, but it is the wonderful surroundings of the castle which make the visit worthwhile, indoors or outdoors in the summer...More

So after 54 of living down the road, decided to take a visit. Good, reasonable prices for admission although cafe rates were a little steep. All kept very clean and looked after. Very enjoyable and would recommend.
