An impressive castle with a walkway round the top of the walls that is a real highlight of the visit though inaccessible to those with mobility issues. A free audio guide can be obtained from the shop inside the castle and it's well worth taking...More

The castle is worth visiting for all ages, although those of limited mobility would be unable to walk the ramparts as the access steps are very steep and winding. There is a lot of interest here, including the town museum. Most entertaining is the animated...More

The castle is beautifully kept and there’s a decent amount of info boards spread about telling you what each bit of the ruins used to be. Although we were visiting so paid to go in, there’s public footpaths circling the outside which we noted as...More

Didn't plan a visit here, just saw it as passing & stopped. It is a proper castlely castle, with towers, wall walk, a surrounding deep ditch etc. I didn't have my kids with us but I think they would have enjoyed exploring around. There was...More

We went here on a horrid, horrid day, but the warmth of the staff and the interesting displays, the castle wall walk with its free audio was just the ticket. The cafe serves tasty good value food. Wish we could have gone on a better...More
