This is part of the overall Nachi Taisha temple and shrine complex, and at risk of repeating what I said there, this is the best of the three great shrines of the Kumano Kodo pilgram's walk. I liked it better than Hongu Taisha and Hayatama,...More

This place is out of the way, but worth the trip. Some of the new roads are not on the mapping system, but if I had to do it again, I'd take a motorcycle and make it into a weekend trip.

Had a quick tour of the Kumano Nachi Taisha, Seigantoji Temple and the Pagoda where one could get a nice shot of the Nachi Otaki.

We arrived there at around 1pm. It might be better to have stayed close to the area and shoot the temple and waterfalls in the morning or sunset.

Nice old temple. Better-looking than the newer concrete living quarters they built. I did see a expensive looking, large, white Lexus sedan peel out. Must of have been the head priest taking his meditative stroll but updated to using the 21st century methods lol.
