Koyasan station is the terminus for the on-rails cable car, which takes you up to the top of the mountain. The cable car itself is a smooth ride and the scenery when you reach the top is breathtaking. The cars run regularly, connect with the...More

The cable cars on the very sharp slope which are connected between the foot and the top of mountain are attractive because of its beautiful scenery from the window. The problem is the time schedule to connect the trains which depart from the Gokuraku-bashi station...More

You have to pass from here if you want to visit Koyasan. After the train you need to use a cable railway and than a bus to go to Mt. Koya.

This station is ran by very kind and responsible people. After getting off the cable car I forgot my umbrella in there and the lady at the station ran for it like a hero and brought it back with the biggest smile.

From Nara we had to take two trains and a cable car to reach Koyasan at a height. The Japanese value time in its true sense, theirs and ours. We hardly ever waited for trains, ever there, even the cable car! Most admirable culture, hospitality...More

We arrived on the cable car and were met by a helpful, English speaking man who asked where we were staying and told us what bus to catch. A great start to a very interesting visit to Kyosan.

A very good way to access Koyasan. Then you can take the cable car the rest of the way up the mountain. It's a comfortable ride with pretty scenery and town's on the way. Not a bad option.

In typical Japanese efficiency. The train track had been damaged by a typhoon a couple of months earlier. When we got off our connecting train a bus was waiting. It left exactly when the train would have left, bypassing the rope way we where driven...More
