This station is ran by very kind and responsible people. After getting off the cable car I forgot my umbrella in there and the lady at the station ran for it like a hero and brought it back with the biggest smile.

From Nara we had to take two trains and a cable car to reach Koyasan at a height. The Japanese value time in its true sense, theirs and ours. We hardly ever waited for trains, ever there, even the cable car! Most admirable culture, hospitality...More

It’s fixed and working since April 2018. Get your cameras out. Also week days 2-3pm there’s a huge gap of no cable cars and or trains Is look up the schedule ahead as I had to wait an hour. Really beautiful view in the waiting...More

We arrived on the cable car and were met by a helpful, English speaking man who asked where we were staying and told us what bus to catch. A great start to a very interesting visit to Kyosan.

A very good way to access Koyasan. Then you can take the cable car the rest of the way up the mountain. It's a comfortable ride with pretty scenery and town's on the way. Not a bad option.

In typical Japanese efficiency. The train track had been damaged by a typhoon a couple of months earlier. When we got off our connecting train a bus was waiting. It left exactly when the train would have left, bypassing the rope way we where driven...More

We spoke to some helpful people at Osaka station and got a combined ticket which took us from Osaka, on the train, on the funicular railway and the buses once in Koyasan. We had a JR Pass, but you can't use that to get to...More

after all, it is from Gokurakubashi station that you take the funicular up to the buses waiting to take you in to town, or, exit the station and hike the Fudozaka Trail which brings you to the bus station at Nyonindo (you will be tired...More

When we were there Nov. 3 the station was closed due to recent typhoon damage to the train tracks leading to the station at the bottom of the mountain. Nice staff who showed us around and a stamp for your book if you collect them!

Koyasan Station is the drop off point for most people coming to Koyasan. Coaches deliver tourists from Gokurakubashi station to Koyasan, but recent weather has damaged the track to Gokurakubashi meaning you need to get off at Hashimoto and get a coach to Koyasan which...More
