My favourite area
Mar 2020
Known as the centre of Shiga Kogen for a reason, this was my favourite area. There were a few good runs of a slightly higher level (red and black runs) that were really enjoyable to ski. There were also lots of restaurants around this area so we had lunch here most days!

My favourite run
Feb 2020
We loved the black run off the top Ichinose Family lift. Because this is a school/beginners area not many other people ride this run.

Amazing runs
Jan 2020
We came to shiga kogen for a skiing holiday and spent a lot of time around Ichinose. Ichinose is a great ski resort there are plenty of runs and great snow. The lifts are good quality and there are plenty of great views. Overall Ichinose is a amazing ski resort!

Great resort for all levels
Jan 2020 • Family
Great resort and part of the central shiga kogen area. Our family has people of all levels and this resort covers anyone from first timers to advanced.

A central area pass saves you money over the all shiga kogen mountain, and gives you enough area for at least a couple of days. Kids we also free on the day we were there, which was a nice surprise.

We hired our gear from Head Sports Station in Ichinose and couldn’t recommend them highly enough. Cheaper than the Prince Hotel West for a day and they have further discounts for multiple days. They ensured my wife’s boots were fully adjusted, and took their time to get it right, and we both found our boots the best we ever have had. No sore feet after 6 fully days of skiing but great control.

The families skis and poles were all great quality and I hired the performance skis which were true high quality head performance skis, and actually the latest model. Best skis I ever had ridden and they even made a suggestion for the forecast conditions.

On top of this the hire store and resort staff were all really nice.

We had lunch over at Aspen Shiga, at the bottom of Giant ski resort, which had great prices and the kids loved the spaghetti and homemade apple juice. It really went down a treat for them.

This was our first trip to Japan but we are likely to be back.

Too many people at this expensive resort
Jan 2019 • Friends
A very busy and crowded ski resort area by Japanese standards.
Only restaurants are in hotels so are extremely expensive. During the day the mountain is over run with ski schools and the lifts are very busy with lengthy wait time.
There are better places to go to such as Hakuba and Nozawa Onsen.

Sledding, Tubing and Biking!
Jan 2019 • Family
500 yen for the day and all the fun you want. We spend a day and a half playing! We were even allowed to leave for lunch and come back! My kids are 10 & 13.
One day it was really snowing hard and windy, the on other was a beautiful day.
Love the travellator that takes you and your sled or tube to the top. Saves sooo much energy 😝
The ladies that run this little area are lovely, no English but use pictures to help.
There were even people learning to ski here.

Nice slopes, excellent powder!
Feb 2017 • Couples
We spent a whole day on these slopes, mainly because it was snowing very hard and the chairlift rides were shorter than some of the others. We were rewarded with almost nobody else on the slopes and fresh powder at knee depth or more for every run. We did more than 25 runs in about 5 hours!
