This is part of the former Bishop of Lincoln's Palace which became almshouses for the poor. There are recreations of two rooms and the area around is pretty but there is not a huge amount there and does not pretend to be a "destination". Whilst...More

Always good to visit an English Heritage site and as a member it works out great value for money. Fascinating history linked to the Bishops of Lincoln, the house, the church, and the village as a whole are excellent.

Small, but stunning property in a lovely little village. The man in the shop was very knowledgeable and helpful. Be certain to view the attic. The beams and braces are stunning! We liked the recorded stories that play in several of the rooms. The garden...More

This is a compact, yet interesting Medieval Palace to wander round. Some of the ceilings and walls are amazing and its fascinating to think how long they have been there and how many generations have been there. Its very photogenic too.

Written as an English heritage member so 'free entry' beautiful location in a charming village, friendly informative reception staff, good well kept house with interactive displays telling the story. It's a 90min max experience but worth visiting

A grade 1 listed building owned by English Heritage and situated in England's smallest county, Rutland. Although there's no car park, road side parking is available next to the nearby Church and the village itself is rather charming. The property was converted into an Almshouse...More

This small well kept property has an interesting past and something of a revelation how the poor were treated - up to the middle of the 20th century. There is not a lot to see inside but the reconstructions of the bedesmen's (and women's) rooms...More
