Delicious cream tea
Sep 2020 • Friends
On Friday last week we went here and had a delicious cream tea. The scones were all homemade and were delicious. The waitress who served us was friendly and made us very welcome. Will definitely come here again.

Lovely place for the coffee/lunch/afternoon tea, dog friendly.

We have visited the café on our camping trip. Great coffee and cakes in a beautiful surroundings. We did sit outside in the garden as the weather was nice, and was so lovely. The coffee place inside looks so cosy and nice too. I would definitely recommend it...and they are dog friendly.. Will definitely visit again when we are in the area.

Great potential....with a change of management!

Im not sure i can comment in any positive way sadly, other than to say their soup and cakes are homemade and generally tasty.
Im rather hoping that after opening up after lockdown they will finally give up and move on...
The proprietors look as if they would rather be anywhere else than at the cafe.
As someone local who has visited regularly purely for its convenience they act as if they have never seen you before.
I have never seen anyone welcomed with any warmth or friendliness.
Even an enquiry about a potential wedding at the gardens garnered no interest or enthusiasm whatsoever.
The gardens are tired and unkempt. It is such a shame with the right proprietors this cafe could be a gold mine as it has enormous potential.

Nowhere quite like it for home-made food
Nov 2019
Went to Braxton again yesterday. Nice sunny winter day , verandah with a roaring enclosed burner..almost too hot but lovely. Cappuccinos excellent and the scone (a large slice of a large home made scone) was just superb, especially with butter and jam. Among the range of good local tea-shops and cafes, Braxton stands out as a very pleasant tea-shop and tea garden, We have never in our many visits had anything but excellent food...light lunches are superb. It almost seemed sunny enough for an outside table but the wind was a bit chilly. A lovely interlude in our busy lives. Its too good to miss. Jean and Terry Langford, Milford on Sea.

Disappointing.

The gardens are a mess, not what we expected at all. Spent less than 5 mins in there. Certainly not what is projected on the website.

The tea room is ok, pretty average food. Unfortunately we were subjected to some not very nice comments from an elderly lady regarding our 6 month year old which marred the experience.

A Delightful Stop
Sep 2019 • Couples
We had hired bikes and this was suggested on the map we had. We was pleasantly surprised how quaint it was. Staff were friendly. Cheese scones were delicious and lovely to have a cup of tea out of a china teapot and cup. Reasonably priced. A little gem

Coffee and Cake
Aug 2019
Stopped at this charming little place for coffee and cake. A very nice selection of cakes and muffins. Fair warning...The coffee will put hair on your chest! My husband loves his coffee strong, but I'm a weaker soul. However, it was good coffee and the lemon and poppy seed muffins were light and favourful.

I will agree with a previous rreview in finding the cheese scone way too sweet. Sugar and cheese? It's a bit of a shame in that the texture of the scone was excellent and the portion very generous.

Great cakes but disappointing gardens.

Stopped here for tea and cakes on the way back from a day out. The tea rooms are lovely. Very quaint with lots of teas and cakes to choose from. Its lovely that you can sit indoors, in the conservatory under a grape vine or out in the gardens. We wandered through the gardens afterwards. They are laid out beautifully but need some attention. Lovely that there are lots of places to sit outside though.

Nice cream tea in a pretty garden, sheltered from the wind
Jun 2019 • Couples
We sat out in the garden and had an excellent cinnamon scone with lots of cream and jam. The gardens are very pretty - walk around whilst you wait for your tea - and you probably will wait. Our waitress left (the end of her shift?) before our order had been delivered. Someone else took over, but it was a bit disconcerting seeing her leave. Overall, though, we were happy to sit in the sunny garden and wait.
