We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We were so impressed with the hour long tour of the house which was fascinating with plenty of interesting artefacts and history to consider. I was even invited to play on the grand piano! Also my 5 year old nephew...More

An ideal way to spend a day. The gardens are beautiful. The house is well worth a visit - the guides are very knowledgeable and make the tour very enjoyable. There is a nice café for refreshments in the grounds.

All ok. Lovely cafe and friendly staff. A little confused with the restrictions of the house would have liked a little more history items rather than talking about paintings and who they were. We had a house tour and was very disappointed that we were...More

Lovely, extensive gardens covering a large area. Good, well laid out walks with plenty of seating. Odd that the shop & cafe closed Fridays and Saturdays with an honesty box for visitor payment. Had a most enjoyable visit but would have liked coffee and a...More

Despite not generally liking guided tours, our guide Sue made our visit very special. She was very informed, chose interesting facts to tell us about and coped very well with interruptions by the Lady of the house, well, she does own it! Only regret, I...More

As others say, you can only go around the house with a guide which made a change for us. That makes it very personal but also variable - our guide was clearly keen on explaining the portraits but wasn't so knowledgable about other aspects. But...More

I had the pleasure of living relatively close for 7 years, and visited it frequently for aa lovely walk through the gardens and of course the cream tea. 3 or 4 hours sounds nice. Don't be in a hurry. It is really lovely!
