Hubby and I decided to check this beach out more as a reconnaissance to see the feasibility of taking our 5 grand children (aged 12, 8, 6 and 2 aged 3 years) there during the forthcoming summer holidays. We took the train from Central Station...More

Decided to have a day out at West Kirby and had a lovely time. We have never visited this coastal area before and loved the vast, clean beach, views across the estuary and lakeside walk. Well worth staying over and exploring next time we go....More

Just like beaches always used to be (at least in the memory!) - just try and avoid Bank Holidays or the school summer holidays, when the great unwashed and illiterate from Birkenhead show up and bring the quality level down considerably..

This is best visited in the evening in summer. Take an amble around the lake wall with children to look for crabs and it’s great fun. The sunsets are often spectacular and you can watch windsurfing and yachting

We came to visit West Kirby beach for the weekend and were not disappointed. Very children and dog friendly place with lovely walks and views. Will definitely be coming back.

Like many before us we cycled to West Kirby along the Wirral Way from Thurstaston, it was a very pleasant ride and very flat. The beach was easily accessible and very clean. Good views across the Dee estuary and towards Hilbre Island.

I would have thought so as you are completely on sand obviously removing any litter afterwards. Check beach signs. Enjoy.

Promenade well lit all along the front and a 2 minute walk takes you to the shops bars etc.The perfect place to blow the cobwebs away and a nice bite to eat and a coffee before you return home.Enjoy.
